Lead Engineer - Moreno Valley (Rep)

Job Summary Provides functional direction and acts as a resource for problem solving in the absence of the Chief Engineer or as directed. Operates and maintains all plant operations equipment including boilers, chillers, HVAC systems, and auxiliary equipment necessary to operate the medical center and its clinics. Operates all machines and equipment vital to maintenance and repair, performs water treatment analysis, and makes adjustments as necessary. Essential Responsibilities Uphold Kaiser Permanente policies and procedures, principles of responsibilities, and applicable state, federal, and local laws. Provide functional direction and act as a resource for problem‑solving in the absence of the Chief Engineer; train staff and assist with operational procedures, data collection, and performance evaluations. Operate, maintain, inspect, and repair boilers, motors, steam reducing stations, expansion tanks, air compressors, fans, pumps, valves, water treatment systems, water heaters, and other auxiliary equipment. Adjust, maintain, and test boiler and HVAC machinery; maintain safety devices. Perform electrical repairs, safety tests, and troubleshooting on lighting, outlets, pumps, and other plant equipment. Unclog pipes, conduct water system tests, adjust chemicals, and maintain cleaning, oiling, painting, and calibration of equipment. Record operating data in logs and isolate electrical issues related to industrial equipment. Repair and maintain air conditioning and refrigeration systems, and troubleshoot related equipment such as thermostats, humidifiers, and ice machines. Modify or repair equipment or plant structures by welding, cutting, or soldering all types of metal materials. Promote excellent customer service to internal and external customers. Assume additional responsibilities as directed. Basic Qualifications 5 years of experience in building plant operations and maintenance, including 3 years in a hospital setting. Extensive knowledge of HVAC systems; ability to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical systems. Working knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local codes. Valid California driver’s license with a clean DMV record. Demonstrated leadership ability. Current L.A. city steam license and EPA Rule 608 universal certificate (Fontana) or 500 HP L.A. city steam license and EPA Rule 608 universal certificate (Riverside). Education Associate of Arts in Engineering or a technical discipline in plant operations, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or equivalent preferred.
