Responsibilities Law Enforcement & Public Safety

• Perform law enforcement duties on property under jurisdiction of the University of Texas System
• Preserve peace using lawful means and intervene to prevent or suppress criminal activity
• Execute lawful processes and enforce applicable laws and regulations
• Arrest offenders with or without a warrant as authorized by law
• Prevent crime and suppress disturbances to maintain public order

Investigations & Incident Response

• Investigate criminal offenses to detect and arrest individuals and recover stolen or lost property
• Attempt to locate missing persons and coordinate appropriate response actions
• Investigate motor vehicle collisions and document findings
• Collect, preserve, and maintain evidence for investigative and legal purposes

Traffic Enforcement

• Enforce traffic laws through detection of violations and engagement with violators
• Issue citations or warnings and take violators into custody when appropriate
• Manage traffic-related incidents and support campus safety efforts

Documentation & Reporting

• Prepare accurate and detailed written reports documenting law enforcement activities
• Maintain confidential information in accordance with legal and institutional standards
• Document investigations and incidents for operational and legal use

Legal & Interagency Collaboration

• Provide credible testimony in criminal courts at the state and federal levels
• Confer with prosecuting attorneys regarding case preparation and evidence
• Collaborate with local law enforcement, criminal justice, and emergency response agencies
• Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders on matters of mutual interest

EDUCATION

Required: In accordance with current levels of education for commissioned police officers of the University of Texas System as adopted by the Board of Regents.

EXPERIENCE:

Required: Successful completion of prescribed field training program. Preferred: Six months experience as a police guard or police cadet for the University of Texas System.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:

Required: OFC - Officer Commissioned Commissioned/licensed peace officer for the State of Texas of entry into job. within 180 Days and Required: TCL-B - TCOLE Basic Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education (TCLEOSE) Peace Officer License. Upon Hire and Required: TDL - Texas Drivers License Valid and current Texas driver's license with a minimum of three year's history of verifiable driving history. With less than three years of driving history, but with a minimum of one year of driving history, a waiver may be requested. Upon Hire OTHER REQUIREMENTS : Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
