Job Description
The University of Nevada, Reno Libraries seeks an engaged, user-centered leader to manage the DeLaMare Science and Engineering Library (DLM), which provides growing services to the University through Data Services and GIS programs, the Mary B. Ansari Map Library, and an exploratory Makerspace. This is a full-time, tenure-track faculty position. Collections support the fields of chemistry, computer science, earth sciences, engineering, math, and physics. Reporting to the Associate Dean of the Libraries, the Director will work collaboratively to provide high-quality library services that meet the evolving needs of users in the DeLaMare Library as well as other campus libraries and partners.
This is a tenure-track faculty position that requires scholarly activity and publication and service on professional and university committees. Responsibilities include:
Providing strategic direction for all DLM services, technologies, collections, and spaces in alignment with University and University Libraries strategic plans.
Managing a team of four faculty, two staff, and approximately twenty student workers, and coordinating daily operations.
Assuming administrative responsibility for the unit, including assessment of spaces and services.
Representing the DLM for development efforts in support of administrative goals.
Partnering with faculty and campus entities to meet teaching and research objectives, integrating library activities into the curriculum and supporting student engagement efforts.
Serving as a liaison librarian for assigned STEM disciplines, providing research consultations, instruction, collections support, and scholarly communications support.
Maintaining familiarity with recent trends in research and teaching related to the liaison areas, such as those concerning journal publication, AI literacy, and evidence synthesis.
Continuing and developing user-centered services and integrating new methods and technologies.
Collaborating and communicating effectively with other library departments to meet the organizational objectives and strategic initiatives of the University Libraries.
Working effectively with a diverse, highly engaged campus and local community from a variety of cultures and backgrounds.
Creating and supporting a positive, engaged, and inclusive work culture.
Required Qualifications
ALA-accredited MLIS or equivalent terminal degree
Five (5) years of professional library experience
Successful managerial experience (e.g., personnel supervision, major project management, facilities operations, or research management)

Budget preparation and financial management
Compensation
The minimum salary for Assistant Professor is $80,000
The minimum salary for Associate Professor is $90,000
The Assistant or Associate Professor level is dependent on experience, record of scholarship, service and achievement.
