ABOUT HALLMARK'S INTERNSHIP PROGRAM We need sharp, energetic people to help us create, engineer, market, and deliver our products worldwide. Hallmark's internship program (late May through early August) provides the valuable opportunity to apply your classroom knowledge to meaningful projects in a corporate environment. You will work alongside professionals in your field on projects aligned with Hallmark's business objectives. In addition, you will gain exposure to Hallmark leadership, learn more about products and initiatives, visit with employees and interns from other disciplines, and enjoy what life is like in the Kansas City metro area. POSITION OVERVIEW Join Hallmark's Information Technology organization as an intern supporting a variety of high-impact teams, including Enterprise Architecture, IT Service & Portfolio Management, Automation & AI, Software Engineering, Quality Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering, and Cloud Operations. You'll contribute to meaningful projects that deliver business value while gaining exposure to enterprise technology strategy, product delivery, and emerging technologies. Throughout the summer, interns will gain hands‑on experience identifying business challenges, designing technology solutions, developing applications and automation tools, analyzing data, and applying emerging technologies including artificial intelligence to improve business outcomes. Interns will collaborate with product managers, software engineers, architects, infrastructure teams, and business stakeholders while gaining exposure to Hallmark's enterprise technology ecosystem. POTENTIAL PROJECT AREAS Depending on team placement, interns may contribute to projects in areas such as: Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Intelligent Automation Business Process Automation and Workflow Optimization Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) and Infrastructure Automation DevOps and Cloud Operations Enterprise Application Development Software Modernization and Application Migration Quality Assurance Automation and Performance Testing Digital Commerce and Omnichannel Technology Product Ownership and Technology Strategy Enterprise Systems Integration Data Analytics and Dashboard Development Supply Chain and Consumer Experience Technology Solutions IT Service Management and Technology Portfolio Planning PROJECTS MAY INCLUDE Designing and developing AI-enabled solutions to improve operational efficiency Building automation tools to eliminate manual processes and improve employee productivity Creating software applications and user interfaces that enhance business workflows Developing test automation frameworks and performance monitoring dashboards Supporting cloud, infrastructure, and site reliability initiatives Building integrations between enterprise applications and business systems Modernizing legacy applications using current technology platforms and frameworks Researching emerging technologies and recommending innovative solutions to business challenges Collaborating with stakeholders to gather requirements, evaluate alternatives, and implement scalable solutions Supporting technology portfolio planning, service management processes, governance activities, and prioritization of technology investments. Building load test scripts for critical business period, covering critical functionalities on the website TECHNOLOGIES YOU MAY WORK WITH Interns may gain experience with technologies including: Artificial Intelligence and Microsoft Copilot Power Platform (Power Apps and Power Automate) Java and Spring Boot JavaScript and TypeScript Python Cloud Technologies APIs and System Integrations Agile Product Development Tools Test automation and quality engineering tools Infrastructure and cloud automation platforms Monitoring and observability solutions DevOps and deployment technologies WHAT YOU WILL GAIN Work on projects that directly impact Hallmark's business operations and technology strategy Develop technical, analytical, and problem‑solving skills through real‑world assignments Partner with business and technology leaders to identify and deliver solutions Gain experience with Agile delivery, product ownership, and enterprise technology practices Build skills in AI, automation, software engineering, and digital transformation Present project outcomes and recommendations to Hallmark leadership Network with interns and professionals from across the organization BASIC QUALIFICATIONS Pursuing an undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Industrial Engineering or Computer Engineering A graduation date of December 2027, May 2028, December 2028, May 2029, December 2029, or May 2030 GPA of 3.0 or higher (GPA must be stated on your resume) PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Foundational knowledge of AI, BPO, BPA, RPA, and enterprise architecture. Previous internship experience or exposure to corporate or technological work. Demonstrated leadership skills & ability to manage ambiguity. Strong analytical skills, learning agility, and problem‑solving skills. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and presentation skills. Familiarity with Agile and ITIL frameworks. ADDITIONAL DETAILS Hallmark's internship program is 12-weeks long, starting in late May and ending in early August. This summer internship is a hybrid position, with the flexibility to work from both our recently renovated headquarters building in Kansas City, MO, and from your summer residence within the KC metro area. Relocation and housing assistance is provided for interns whose permanent address is outside of the KC metro area. Relocation to the Kansas City metro area is required for this role.
