For further information on Enerpac Tool Group and its businesses, visit the Company's website at Summary – basic function of the role Seeking a UX Designer with roughly 3-5 years of relevant experience who will collaborate with global product managers, engineers, software developers, researchers, and fellow designers to identify unmet customer needs and translate them into clear, user-centered product experiences. This role contributes across the design lifecycle, from discovery and concept development through validation and implementation. This role supports both physical products and digital applications, helping create cohesive experiences across tools, controls, displays, mobile and web applications, connected products, and related workflows. The ideal candidate combines practical UX methods with strong visual and interaction design skills, can communicate ideas through sketches, journey maps, wireframes, mockups, and prototypes, and is comfortable learning from users in office, field, and industrial environments. The designer will also contribute to broader UX strategy, design standards, and the continued growth of user-centered design within the Design & Innovation team. Location: Milwaukee, WI - Based at our beautifully renovated headquarters, right along the Riverwalk, across from the Grand Ave. We offer secure paid underground parking, an onsite fitness center with a personal trainer, and direct access to over two miles of skywalks connecting you to restaurants, coffee shops, and other downtown amenities. Schedule: Hybrid schedule onsite Monday through Thursday, with remote work capabilities on Fridays Job Duties and Responsibilities Contribute to a culture of Design & Innovation by applying user-centered design and Design Thinking principles to cross-functional projects. Support the development and consistent use of UX processes, methods, and tools across projects. Contribute to the Enerpac design system and help maintain a consistent look, feel, and interaction model across digital experiences. Design experiences that connect physical products and digital interfaces, including product controls, embedded displays, mobile and web applications, connected tools, and IoT-enabled workflows. Explore how products, applications, and services work together within a broader product ecosystem, and contribute ideas that support the UX and connected-product strategy. Partner with product management, engineering, software development, marketing, and other functions to understand user and business requirements and translate them into design solutions. Plan and conduct user research with guidance as needed, including interviews, contextual inquiry, usability testing, and field observation. Synthesize research into practical design inputs using personas, journey maps, task flows, storyboards, heuristic evaluations, and experience principles. Create sketches, wireframes, user flows, mockups, and interactive prototypes that communicate intended hardware and digital experiences. Support physical-product UX activities such as control layout, labeling, information hierarchy, ergonomics, feedback, setup, service, and end-to-end product interaction. Validate concepts with users and stakeholders, document findings, and refine designs based on evidence and feedback. Work with engineering and software teams through implementation, helping resolve usability, interaction, and visual-design issues while maintaining design intent. Participate in design reviews, workshops, and design sprints, and clearly communicate design rationale to technical and non-technical audiences. Build relationships with internal stakeholders and end users while developing the confidence to independently manage defined UX workstreams. Stay current on product design, industrial UX, accessibility, connected products, and digital experience trends, and share relevant practices with the team. Skills and Competencies Skills: Ability to think beyond visual design and consider the complete user journey across physical and digital touchpoints. Working proficiency in digital design and prototyping tools such as Figma. Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud tools such as Illustrator and Photoshop. Ability to translate research findings and product requirements into clear flows, interfaces, prototypes, and design recommendations. Strong rapid-visualization skills, including sketching, wireframing, and concept communication. A strong eye for interaction design, information hierarchy, visual design, and graphical communication. Clear verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to explain design concepts to technical and non-technical audiences. Competencies: Collaborative, curious, and comfortable working through ambiguity with cross-functional teams. Solid understanding of the user-centered design process and experience applying it to multiple projects or product releases. Interest in the changing landscape of industrial products, connected tools, software, technology, and user experience. Empathy for users and the ability to turn observations into clear stories, needs, and opportunities. A practical, customer-centered approach to design, with the judgment to balance user needs, business goals, technical constraints, and project timing. Experience working in Agile or iterative product-development environments is preferred. Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in User Experience Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Interaction Design, Graphic Design, Industrial Design, or a related field; equivalent practical experience may be considered. 3-5 years of relevant experience in UX, product design, interaction design, or a related role, with exposure to both digital products and physical-product experiences preferred. Portfolio demonstrating user research, journey maps, task flows, wireframes, prototypes, interface design, and/or hardware interaction work is required. Experience collaborating with software-development and/or hardware-engineering teams. Experience with connected products, embedded interfaces, industrial equipment, or IoT is a plus. Physical Demands Employee may have to lift documents/work materials up to 30 pounds in weight. Employee will have to be able to walk/climb to a variety of primary work locations, including traveling by air/auto and potentially remote sites. Position may require travel up to 25% of time depending on assigned projects. Employee will need to listen, understand, and speak with team members in person, telephonically, and electronically at all levels within a diverse workforce and with supported organizations. Employee is able to work in front of a personal computer for extended periods of time. Work Environment Primary work environment is in a temperature-controlled office setting but may also be visiting different manufacturing facilities where following appropriate safety protocols at the location would be required.
