Role Overview Plan and coordinate all electrical and avionics activities and provide customers with daily information on aircraft schedules, repairs, parts and components shipped to vendors. The lead works with hangar management to coordinate electrical and avionics activities and to schedule aircraft requirements. Key Responsibilities Plan, schedule and complete tasks on work authorisations to meet the master schedule, providing daily status reports and progress schedules to management Coordinate electrical and avionics activities to meet aircraft schedules and deadlines Review work, including forms and records, to ensure compliance with the Site Inspection Procedures Manual, Site Operating Procedures and the Federal Aviation Regulations Supervise and instruct electrical technicians, giving technical guidance and correct procedures for troubleshooting electrical and avionics systems, routine inspections and preventive maintenance Provide input to subordinate performance appraisals and submit them to management for review Troubleshoot, inspect and perform maintenance on aircraft electrical and avionics systems Review daily job charging for all personnel, including support groups, to ensure accuracy of inputs Maintain a preventive maintenance programme for test equipment, hand tools and special tools Maintain current knowledge of Aircraft Service Changes, customer bulletins, inspection schedule requirements, vendor information and other aircraft maintenance procedures and publications Supervise a continuous safety programme in the hangar area covering operation of support equipment, aircraft systems and general housekeeping Maintain required logs and records Enforce the company foreign object damage programme, tool control programme, 5S programme and all safety regulations Adapt to sudden schedule changes and coordinate with other disciplines on projects Additional duties Establish and foster an environment of innovation and Lean-oriented thinking In support of aircraft certification and final phase testing, work may include flight tests on aircraft as required Perform other duties as assigned Requirements Thorough knowledge of aircraft systems, troubleshooting, technical manual systems and the aircraft maintenance records system Preferred proficiency in the operation and troubleshooting of aircraft systems other than avionics, such as hydraulics, landing gear, flight controls, environmental controls, or structural installation and repair Ability to read and interpret electrical and avionics system drawings, schematics and blueprints Demonstrated leadership ability and excellent verbal and written communication skills Demonstrated ability to plan, organise, implement and achieve objectives with minimal direction Good understanding of PC, Windows and mainframe computer applications, including standard word processing programmes such as Microsoft Word; typing skills a plus Ability to use hand tools and avionics test equipment Must be able to climb ladders and stairs, work in small restricted spaces and lift up to 100 pounds (45 kg) Must be able to work any shift Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language. Requirements
