OIT Application Services, Barry Building, 3185 S. Blair Stone Road, Tallahassee, FL 32301. (Teleworking is not authorized. Work-hour flexibility required between 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM, potentially including Saturdays, rotation, and on-call). Project Duration: October 1, 2026 June 30, 2026 (Note: The stated end date precedes the start date; clarification with FDOT is highly recommended). I. Scope / Background The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is requesting a qualified staff-augmentation resource to support its database environment. The DBA team ensures that application architectures, processing architectures, data dictionaries, and database schemas meet FDOT data and security standards. The selected resource will assist with database design, development, schema modifications, optimization, performance monitoring, operational administration, documentation, SQL code reviews, and technical staff mentoring. II. Primary Job Duties / Tasks Daily operational and database administration activities. Plan, design, implement, and support database structures. Conduct database performance monitoring and tuning. Develop and maintain database administration procedures and documentation. Perform SQL Code reviews. Assist with training/mentoring other technical staff. Perform other database or infrastructure activities as requested. III. Education & Experience Requirements Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field (or equivalent work experience). Experience: 15 years combined experience in database administration across the following platforms: DB2 for z/OS SQL Server 2008R2, 2012 Oracle 10g and above Preferred Experience: Knowledge of FDOT integrated database infrastructure, Financial Management applications, and integrated application environment is a plus. IV. Job Specific Technical Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) Advanced Knowledge: DB2 for z/OS (application integration, performance management, database administration, upgrading, catalog maintenance, sub-system point-in-time recovery). JCL. In-Depth Knowledge: z/OS integrated platform and software monitoring tools. CA GEN model management and application object support. ISPF, ASG Scheduler, and COBOL. DB2 for z/OS database monitoring tools. Technical infrastructure implementation planning and coordinating. Solid Working Knowledge: z/OS started task creation and management. IBI z/OS service support. AFOPER commands, RACF, and CICS. IOF and technical requirements of Disaster Recovery. Oracle & MSSQL application integration, performance management, and database administration. Verification testing techniques for infrastructure change management. Working Knowledge: z/OS EXITs, BJS, and Windows Servers. SSMS, SSRS, SSIS. Azure. V. General Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
