Research Nurse (Pedi Surgery)

Overview UTHealth Houston is Texas’ resource for healthcare education, innovation, scientific discovery, and excellence in patient care. Position Summary The Research Nurse coordinates and conducts clinical research studies while providing nursing care in accordance with research protocols. Responsibilities include recruiting, screening, consenting, educating, and following participants throughout studies; coordinating study activities; maintaining regulatory compliance; preparing IRB submissions; managing research data and databases; and serving as a liaison among participants, families, investigators, research staff, and sponsors. May oversee multiple research protocols simultaneously. Key Accountabilities Recruit, screen, consent, and educate participants regarding research objectives, benefits, and risks. Coordinate and administer nursing care functions within a research project in accordance with protocols and daily administration and staff supervision. Schedule follow‑up visits and maintain contact with participants, families, department staff, pharmaceutical representatives, and other faculty members. Distribute research information to faculty, research staff, principal investigator, and others as requested. Prepare regulatory submissions to the IRB and applicable agencies and manage day‑to‑day enrolling activities. Input data and maintain research databases and related records. Perform other duties as assigned. Compliance & Security This position is a security‑sensitive position pursuant to Texas Education Code 51.215, Texas Government Code 411.094, and Texas Business and Commerce Code 117.001(2). Personnel will be reviewed to ensure they can maintain the security or integrity of critical infrastructure. Must permanently reside in Texas. Requirements Education: Bachelor's Degree in nursing from an accredited school. State licensure required. Experience: Minimum 1 year in research. Preferred: Association of Clinical Research Professionals – ACRP‑CP certification.
