Research Technologist (Oncology)

Dr. Mark Yarchoan and Dr. Vincent Lam are seeking to hire a Research Technologist with a BS/BA in Biology or Chemistry/Biochemistry or similar field with interests in immunology. The laboratories investigates immune-based approaches and neoantigen vaccination for prevention of acquired resistant advanced ALK+ non-small cell lung cancer. Under the supervision of Dr. Yarchoan and Dr. Lam, and the laboratory manager, individuals filling this position will participate in a wide range of translational cancer immunology research using primary patient-derived human samples and mouse models of hepatobiliary cancer. The Research Technologist performs laboratory tasks and completes routine assays following common or established protocols and procedures.Specific Duties and ResponsibilitiesPerform clinical and/or research laboratory experiments by following common protocols independently or with instructions.Use basic science knowledge to learn techniques and methods of the lab.Gain problem-solving skills through progressive training, understanding of the research, and experience.Run lab tests and complete measurements.Identify and resolve common problems involved in routine assays.Increase skill base and knowledge of lab research and relevant assays.Train users in standard equipment operation and routine lab techniques and procedures.Set-up experiments based on defined standards.Collect project data.Prepare, test, and maintain standard laboratory equipment.Perform related laboratory maintenance, monitor inventory of supplies, clean equipment.Tissue culture, Culture and maintain primary cells and cell lines using sterile technique. Perform in vitro assays to assess cellular responses and use gene editing techniques to generate transgenic cellular models.Maintain animal colonies and participate in mouse experiments including tumor implantation, tumor growth measurement, and harvesting of tumor and immune tissue.Perform immunological assays including flow cytometry, ELISA, and ELISPOT.Data analysis and interpretation: Analyze experimental data using statistical methods and relevant software tools, such as GraphPad, and FlowJo.Routine lab maintenance: Maintain lab equipment, reagent stocks, and necessary records.Other duties as assigned.Minimum QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Biology, Chemistry or related fieldAdditional education may substitute for required experience, and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond a high school diploma/graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.Classified Title: Research Technologist Role/Level/Range: ACRO40/E/02/CC Starting Salary Range: $16.10 - $26.90 HRLY ($44,824 targeted; Commensurate w/exp.)
