Surgical Technologist CVOR

Overview The CVOR Surgical Technologist performs duties as a member of the surgical team to support safe operative procedures in a cardiovascular operating room. Reports to Surgical Services management and works under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. This role requires recent CVOR experience, including assisting with cardiovascular procedures. Responsibilities Support system-wide surgical operations and safety plans in the Cardiovascular OR. Ensure sterilization criteria are met and maintain a sterile environment. Prepare the operating room and instruments, assist with sterile processing, and support surgeons within the OR scope of practice. Identify and respond to emergency situations; assist with room turnover and cleaning. Participate in training and mentoring, providing at least one educational offering per year. Function as either a Specialty Leader or Clinical Expert: Specialty Leader: Oversee specialty areas, coordinate case flow, assignments, and staff training. Clinical Expert: Scrub high-acuity cases, train and mentor caregivers, and assist with new hire orientation. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: BLS for healthcare providers; completion of an accredited Operating Room Technician (ORT) program, or: Graduated from a non-accredited surgical tech program within the past six months (not eligible for Tech in Surgery exam), or Two years of scrub tech experience in hospital/military surgical services within the last three years, or Hired for on-the-job training in a rural hospital, or International training equivalent and legally authorized to work in the U.S. Competent in Level III or IV cases in high-acuity areas (e.g., Robotics, Neuro, CV, Trauma, Transplant) and/or facility case mix in Level II Trauma Facility or Quaternary Center. Ability to take assigned specialty call in Level II Trauma Facility or Quaternary Center. Must be in good standing. Prior approval from Surgical Services Director before moving into this role. Preferred Qualifications: Surgical Technologist with 2+ years of experience; proficiency scrubbing into high-acuity cases (Neuro, Cardiovascular, Transplants, Trauma); active National Certification as OR Tech or Certified Surgical Technologist; certification required within specified timeframe after hire. Work Details Department: Operating Room – Intermountain Medical Center (Murray, Utah) Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week; variable hours; schedule discussed in interview. Pay Range: Level III $32.34 – $49.94; Level IV $35.60 – $54.93 Location: Intermountain Health – Intermountain Medical Center, Murray, Utah.
