The Brooke Army Medical Center is the United States Army's premier medical institution. Responsibilities (listed are included but not limited to)

• Surgical procedures range from routine to complex high risk or trauma cases. Must be able to circulate the full range of surgical procedures performed in the operating room.
• Provide all basic requirements expected of a Surgical/OR Technologist, from patient pre-op and post-op responsibilities to maintaining cleanliness and inventory of sterile supplies and tools in the OR.
• Transport patients from hospital units to the OR assuring safe transportation of the patient. Screen patients prior to transport to ensure preoperative medications have been given and jewelry, dentures and any prosthetic devices have been removed.
• Documents all patient care given and the progress of the patient utilizing BAMC's documentation standards in the patient's medical record manually and/or electronically.
• Provide Surgeons, Anesthesiologists, and Anesthetists during induction and throughout procedure.
• Comfort patients fearing surgery. Contact with family and significant others to provide information, counseling, emotional support, alleviate anxiety, fear, and stress concerning patient condition and/or prognosis.

Requirements

• Must have a minimum of 1 year experience within the last three years as a certified Surg Tech/OR Tech.
• Must have and maintain certification from NBSTSA as a CST.
• Must have and maintain current BLS certification by the American Heart Association or client standards.
