Make an impact as a dedicated Behavior Specialist serving elementary students in special education. This full-time contract opportunity focuses on supporting K-2nd grade students, creating a positive learning environment and helping each child thrive academically and socially.

As a Behavior Specialist, you’ll collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to assess student needs, develop and implement individualized behavioral plans, and provide direct interventions. Your expertise in behavior management and special education will guide classroom staff and ensure the highest level of support for students and their families.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Must hold a valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with special education endorsement (LBS 1 and/or LBS 2)
• Experience working with elementary-aged students (K-2) in a school setting preferred
• Proven ability to develop and monitor individualized behavior intervention plans
• Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with students, staff, and families
• Deep understanding of special education practices and legal requirements

Key Responsibilities:

• Support K-2 students in developing appropriate classroom and social behaviors
• Conduct functional behavior assessments and collect data to shape interventions
• Design, implement, and adjust thoughtful behavior intervention plans
• Model effective behavioral strategies and train classroom staff as needed
• Collaborate with educators, therapists, and families for holistic student support
• Document interventions and student progress in compliance with district and state requirements
