Head Coach Softball

Overview Florida International University in Miami is seeking a Head Softball Coach to lead its NCAA Division I program. The successful candidate will provide overall leadership for the Softball program, including recruiting, skill instruction, student‑athlete development, budget management, competition scheduling, academic monitoring, community involvement, fundraising, staff management, and coaching. Responsibilities Provide leadership, organization, and supervision for all aspects of the Softball program at the university. Develop and manage a competition schedule. Coach, evaluate, and demonstrate proper sport techniques; design training and practice strategies for injury avoidance and performance optimization. Observe and evaluate student‑athlete performance in practice and competition. Recruit, hire, and supervise assistant coaches and program staff; be responsible for their actions and ensure compliance with NCAA rules. Recruit student‑athletes locally, nationally, and internationally from high school, transfer portal, junior college and other sources; maintain public contact with schools, colleges, academies, and clubs for recruitment and public relations. Interface directly with athletic department support units to ensure successful program operation; assist with program promotion and marketing. Maintain confidentiality of medical, academic, and personal data of student‑athletes and any information that impacts the university and/or athletic department. Monitor academic performance and progress of student‑athletes with the Student‑Athlete Academic Center (SAAC); uphold requirements for academic progress rate. Foster and maintain a healthy team culture for a positive student‑athlete experience. Promote student‑athlete development opportunities; create and maintain a nurturing culture and participation in community service activities; coordinate community service and school partnership programs. Work within an authorized budget and actively pursue outside fundraising. Provide transportation for student‑athletes and prospects when necessary. Represent the university and athletic department at professional meetings, alumni events, community service functions, booster club meetings, and other events as needed. Adhere to all State of Florida, university, NCAA, conference, and departmental rules and policies; report NCAA violations to the Director Athletic Compliance and oversee NCAA education for subordinates; review and abide by all department procedures. Qualifications A bachelor’s degree and four (4) years of related coaching experience at the high school level or above, or a master’s degree and two (2) years of related coaching experience at the high school level or above.
