POSITION VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
Position:Staff Pharmacist - Pharmacy - 1 Full-Time
Indian Preference applies in accordance with Ordinance #15-600-02
SUMMARY
The Staff Pharmacist supports the Little River Band of Ottawa Indians Pharmacy by ensuring safe, effective, and compliant pharmacy operations. Working with the Chief Pharmacist, clinical staff, and administration, they promoteoptimalmedication use, expand access to quality care, and support preventative health services.
EMPLOYMENT QUALIFICATIONS
- A Bachelors or Doctor of Pharmacy Degree from an ACPE accredited institution withdemonstratedexperience in distributive and clinical pharmacy services; and
- Current, unrestricted pharmacist license in the State of Michigan, or the eligibility and ability to obtain licensure prior to beginning employment; and
- Demonstratedexpertisein pharmaceutical inventory management,includingmedication procurement, tracking, storage, and security; and
- Ability to interpret and communicate complex clinical, regulatory, informationtechnology,quality standards and requirements toPharmacy Departmentstaff and administration; and
- Working knowledge of clinical, financial, and regulatory resources and reference materials, along with the ability to apply them appropriately in practice; and
- Excellent communication and patient education skills, with the ability to motivate patients and provide guidance on disease states, treatment goals, medication administration, usage, precautions, and proper storage.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Reviews prescriptions for accuracy and appropriateness while analyzing prescribing trends to support patient compliance and prevent excessive medication use or harmful drug interactions.
- Provides guidance and counseling to patients on drug interactions, side effects, dosing, expected therapeutic outcomes, and proper medication storage.
- Evaluates the identity, strength, and purity of medications to ensure quality and safety standards are met.
- Maintains and updates pharmacy records, including patient profiles, pharmacy files, inventory documentation, and controlled substance logs.
- Collaborates with healthcare professionals to develop, monitor, review, and evaluate medication therapies and treatment effectiveness, whileprovidingexpert guidance on drug applications and best practices.
- Oversees the procurement and management of pharmaceutical and medical supplies, ensuringaccurateinventory control, proper storage and handling, and adherence to 340B drug pricing program requirements for medication acquisition and distribution.
- Fosters a compassionate and therapeutic clinical environment by delivering individualized, culturally sensitive emotional, intellectual, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, families, and the community.
- Maintains immunization certification through an accredited organization and administers immunizationsin accordance withcollaborative practice agreements and established provider protocols
- Performsadditionaljob -related responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.

PHYSICALDEMANDS
Standing forlong periodsof time, frequent walking, and occasional lifting of 10lbs to 20lbs, reaching, bending, kneeling, or stretching isto be expected. The nature of the work also involves fine motor skills and visual acuity to measure and dispense medications and tooperateoffice equipment. Work may involve exposure to infections, communicable diseases, contaminated materials, bodilyfluids.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed in aclimate controlledmedicaloffice environment.Theemployeeswork schedulemayneedto be flexible and adjusted according to business needs.The employee must be able to effectively handle stressful and compromising situations whileremainingfocused and professional, as well asbe able to deal with difficult people without losing perspective.Travel may berequiredto attend meetings, training sessions, or to provide staffing coverage at another pharmacy location.
