Data Science Informatics Specialist

Salary: $93,804 - 126,168 per year Requirements:

• We require one of the following educational and experience pathways in a quantitative or technical field such as informatics, data science, mathematics, computer science, statistics, biostatistics, or epidemiology:
• A masters degree in a related discipline.
• A bachelors degree in a related discipline plus 2 years of professional data science or informatics experience.
• An associate degree in a related discipline plus 4 years of professional data science or informatics experience.
• At least 6 years of professional data science or informatics experience, including a minimum of 2 years working with complex health care, behavioral health, and/or public health analytics.
• We expect experience with data visualization tools and programming languages such as R, SAS, SQL, M code, and/or Python.
• We look for strong analytical ability, including collecting, organizing, interpreting, and sharing large volumes of information with precision and attention to detail.
• We value the ability to learn continuously and to take initiative in meeting the needs of others.
• Preferred qualifications include hands-on experience with SQL.
• Preferred qualifications include familiarity with prevention, outpatient, and/or residential behavioral health service delivery systems for youth and adults.

• We analyze and interpret program data from multiple sources, including PDAMS, Excel, and Navigator Case Management System data.
• We design and apply routine data quality validation checks and cleansing procedures using tools such as R, SAS, and SQL.
• We examine program operations and workflows and help define system design needs and use cases.
• We prepare reports, presentations, dashboards, charts, and interactive visualizations for timely decision-making.
• We generate program metrics and outputs to support behavioral health program management.
• We merge different data formats and sources to meet analytical project requirements.
• We partner closely with program management to improve data collection methods and enhance data capture systems.
• We serve as a subject matter resource on complex definitions, analytic logic, models, and reporting requirements.
• We develop data science models, evaluations, research, and statistical analyses for the populations served by our behavioral health programs.
• We translate and communicate findings to colleagues, policymakers, and the public in a clear and accessible way.
• We apply an equity lens to our analyses and broader business processes.

This Data Science and Informatics Specialist 2 role sits within our DATA team in the Strategy, Policy, and Innovation division and supports six behavioral health programs under the Trueblood Contempt Settlement Agreement. The position is based in Olympia, WA, with remote work options available for eligible candidates, and out-of-state telework is not currently supported.
