Accounting Intern | Waste Resource Management The Tone: This is an internship at Waste Resource Management, located in Houston, TX. Waste Resource Management is an environmental services company with operations across Texas, Colorado, Florida, and Nevada. This role is important because the intern will support the Accounting and Finance functions, gaining hands‑on experience with real‑world processes and contributing to business improvements within a growing organization. The TL;DR Role: Internship Type: Temporary (10–12 week program) Location: In-person Houston, TX Team: Works within the Accounting Department alongside experienced professionals, with an assigned mentor. Mission: To participate in and support core accounting processes, financial reporting, and data analysis, while completing a capstone project to identify measurable and impactful improvements to an existing accounting process. Tech Stack: Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint) What You’ll Actually Do Daily Support: Assist with day-to-day accounting and financial activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and month‑end tasks as assigned. Accuracy Review: Support account reconciliations and review financial information to ensure accuracy and completeness. Capstone Project: Conduct a capstone project focused on identifying opportunities for measurable and impactful improvements to an existing accounting process. Reporting & Presentation: Prepare detailed reports, presentations, and summaries for Accounting and Finance leadership, presenting capstone findings and recommendations at the internship’s conclusion. Professional Development: Collaborate with an assigned mentor to gain practical knowledge of the accounting profession and develop essential professional skills. The Must-Haves Background: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field, specifically as a full‑time Junior or Senior. Candidates should possess a basic understanding of core accounting and financial principles. Experience: This role requires proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and PowerPoint, for financial data collection, analysis, and reporting. Skills:Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving abilities are essential. Candidates must demonstrate excellent writtenandverbal communication skills,astrongattentiontodetail,andacommitmenttoaccuracy.
