Common titratable and/or set rate drips include Levophed, Amiodarone, Heparin, Precedex, Propofol, Cardene, Nitro, Neosynephrine, and Dopamine.The unit has 24 beds in the ICU and 26 in the PCU. The nurse-to-patient ratios are typically 2:1 (occasionally 3:1 depending on acuity) in the ICU and 4:1 in the PCU. Nurses will be floated between two critical care and stepdown units. There will be an Intensivist in-house during the day and hospitalists available throughout all hours. Respiratory therapy will be available in the ICU 24/7. Bedside monitors and a monitoring bank will be accessible at the charge desk with monitor techs on-site. There will be no nurse aids typically in the ICU, but 1-2 may be present in the PCU per shift. Nurses are expected to work four shifts a week, with weekend coverage usually required every other weekend based on staffing needs.
