Job Overview Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital – Respiratory Care PractitionerSchedule: PRN – per diem, on an as‑needed basis.Must have RRT licensure in Missouri. Responsibilities Assess patients to determine appropriate type and frequency of treatment, and develop a plan of care based on diagnosis. Provide respiratory care services in accordance with physician orders, department policies, procedures and guidelines. Implement and monitor patient care plans and use of equipment. Monitor, record and communicate patient condition. Perform advanced respiratory care modalities. Evaluate respiratory practice, administer medications, and adjust treatment based on patient outcomes. Educate patients and families about the health condition, and provide information on community support groups and programs. Assist with care, calibration and maintenance of all equipment. Participate in maintaining departmental inventory levels for supplies and equipment. Process equipment according to established cleaning/sterilization procedures. Respond to medical emergencies and rapid response situations. Maintain constant alertness and work safely. Perform other duties as assigned. Education and Experience Associate’s degree in Respiratory Care or equivalent education and experience. No prior experience required. Physical Requirements Constant use of speech for oral communication. Constant standing, walking, frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling of objects weighing 0–25lb. Frequent sitting, reaching and keyboard use/data entry. Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances 20inches or less and 20feet or more, and to identify colors. Frequent use of smell to detect/recognize odors. Frequent use of hearing to receive oral communication, distinguish body sounds and/or alarms. Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling of objects weighing 25–50lb. Occasional lifting/moving of patients. Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, gripping and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements. Occasional driving. Rare crawling and running. Licensure & Certifications State of Missouri Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) – National Board for Respiratory Care. Respiratory Care Practitioner – Missouri Division of Professional Registration. Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) – American Heart Association (AHA).
