About the Role
We’re looking for a skilled CNC Machinist who enjoys precision work, modern manufacturing technology, and solving real‑world challenges in Budney Aerospace. In this role, you’ll set up and operate CNC machines that manufacture critical components used in aircraft engines and systems.
This position works with Okuma, Mazak, and DMG Mori CNC mills and lathes in an environment where no two jobs are the same. Budney Aerospace machining requires adaptability, sound judgment, and pride in craftsmanship. What You’ll Do
- Set up and operate CNC mills and lathes ( Okuma , Mazak , DMG Mori ), performing trial runs and adjustments to ensure accuracy, quality, and adherence to specifications.
- Interpret blueprints, drawings, travelers, operation sheets, and technical documentation to determine tooling, setups, tolerances, and machining sequences.
- Select, align, and secure fixtures, cutting tools, materials, and accessories required for each operation.
- Monitor CNC/DNC programs and machining processes, making real-time adjustments to maintain part quality and dimensional compliance.
- Inspect in-process and finished parts using calibrated measurement tools to verify conformance to customer and quality requirements.
- Ensure proper use, care, documentation, and timely return of calibrated instruments in accordance with calibration schedules.
- Accurately complete travelers and shop floor system documentation to maintain traceability, accountability, and quality records.
- Collaborate with engineers, programmers, inspectors, and production team members to troubleshoot and resolve machining issues.
- Handle all components carefully to protect part integrity and ensure a safe working environment.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance and maintain a clean, organized, and safety-compliant work area.
- Support additional shop or team duties as assigned.
What You Bring
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 3 years of experience setting up and operating CNC machines in an aerospace, precision manufacturing, or similarly regulated environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality, safety, and teamwork.
Preferred
- Experience machining complex aerospace components, such as turbine engine parts.
- Experience with CAD/CAM software.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and move throughout the workday, with frequent walking and use of hands and arms.
- Occasional sitting, climbing, balancing, kneeling, crouching, or stooping.
- Ability to lift or move up to 50 lbs. with assistance (such as a hoist).
- Visual capability for close, distance, and peripheral vision, with the ability to adjust focus.
