Required Skills & Experience

Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related technical field.\n2-5 years of experience in Systems Engineering, Integration & Test, Validation, Verification, or related engineering roles.\nHands-on experience with hardware integration, testing, and troubleshooting.\nExperience with requirements management and system verification processes.\nFamiliarity with MATLAB and technical data analysis.\nStrong problem-solving and communication skills.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Aerospace, defense, UAV/UAS, ISR, or autonomous systems experience.\nExperience with RF communications, networking, IP protocols, avionics, or aircraft electronics.\nKnowledge of sensors, cameras, gimbals, payloads, or mission systems.\nExperience with Jama or other requirements management tools.\nProgramming or scripting experience with Python, C/C++, or MATLAB.\nFlight test, data acquisition, or systems integration experience.

Job Description

A lead defense contractor, is continuing growth, and is seeking a Systems Engineer II to support the development, integration, and testing of advanced unmanned aircraft systems. This role will be required to be onsite in Petaluma, CA working full time at their manufacturing site. This person will be required for minimal travel to their in field test sites in Oregon and California. He/She will be apart of a 30-person engineering organization supporting both R&D and production programs in a fast-paced, hands-on environment. This is an excellent opportunity for engineers who enjoy working directly with aircraft systems, sensors, communications hardware, and flight testing rather than purely theoretical or architecture-focused engineering. Engineers will have visibility across the full product lifecycle and work closely with Software, Electrical, Mechanical, and Controls Engineering teams. This role will be paying between $85-125k depending on years of experience. \n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nIntegrate new hardware, sensors, RF communications systems, GPS antennas, and electronic components into unmanned aircraft platforms.\nSupport system integration, verification, validation, and troubleshooting activities.\nDevelop and execute system, ground, and flight test plans.\nInstrument aircraft and test assets to collect and analyze performance data.\nSupport remote and on-site testing activities at manufacturing and field test locations.\nDevelop, manage, and verify system requirements using requirements management tools.\nParticipate in requirements reviews, design reviews, and technical evaluations.\nDocument test procedures, results, and engineering findings.\nSupport the transition of new technologies and prototypes into production.
