This position is for a Weather and Catastrophe Claims Services (WCCS) Claim Specialist, primarily handling homeowners, commercial and large loss claims from natural disasters and/or weather-related events. WCCS Claim Specialists may also work Fire claims with assignments to Fire Proximity territories and/or In-Office operations as business demands. You will be the first point of contact to meet with our insureds, explain coverage, estimate damages, and help them through the claims process while providing Remarkable service.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct on-site inspections and assessments of property damages for both residential and commercial claims
• Collaborate with policyholders, insurance agents, and other involved parties to gather information and resolve claims efficiently
• May occasionally require interacting with parties who express strong emotions or concerns about ongoing inspections or claim resolutions
• Provide exceptional customer service throughout the claims process, addressing inquiries and concerns promptly and professionally
• Gather necessary evidence, document findings, and prepare detailed reports to support the claims handling process
• Investigate and adjust both personal and commercial property claims with exposures up to $500,000
• Evaluate coverage and policy terms to determine the validity of claims and ensure compliance with local regulations
• Negotiate and settle claims within the authorized limits, considering policy provisions, industry standards, and company guidelines

These are deployable positions that require extensive overnight travel with minimal notice throughout the U.S. via commercial transportation and/or driving motor vehicles, including a transit van. Travel may also include going to any office location where the Company does business or other location to conduct/attend training, conferences, meetings, and/or seminars. Selected candidates must reside in one of the identified states. If you do not currently reside in one of these areas and are selected for the position, you must be willing to relocate at your own expense.

These roles average 220-240 deployed days over a 12-month period with length of deployment varying per business demand. A Catastrophe Day Off is provided weekly during a deployed assignment. A Provisional Weekend is available on defined intervals during deployments for a period of either 4 or 5 consecutive days off based on length of deployed assignment.

Deployments may require work outside your home, both onsite or virtual, for extended periods of time and working in adverse weather conditions and challenging physical environments.

Successful candidates are able and willing to work flexible schedules and may be asked to work overtime and/or irregular hours.

• Ability to investigate problems, evaluate information, and make well-supported decisions
• Ability to interpret detailed policies, guidelines, or technical information and apply them accurately to real-world situations
• Ability to quickly learn unfamiliar concepts, processes, and terminology and apply that knowledge accurately in practical situations
• Ability to effectively interact with policyholders, agents, and other stakeholders to move claims forward efficiently
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills to handle difficult/emotional conversations with a customer-minded focus
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills
• Proficiency in using mobile/desktop tools to document and support claims both in the field and remotely
• Physical agility to allow for: walking; bending, reaching, kneeling, squatting, stooping, frequent lifting, carrying, unfolding, and climbing a ladder; ability to utilizing appropriate equipment in accordance with safety guidelines to traverse roofs at various heights and pitches for inspection of both residential and commercial structures; ability to crawl in tight spaces to gather information needed during the adjustment of a claim.
• Ability to complete Rope and Harness Safety Training (RAST).
• You may be required to obtain a Property and Casualty Adjuster's License in every state that requires claim handlers to be licensed.
• A valid driver's license is required

Preferred:

• Bachelor's Degree in a related field such as Risk Management, Insurance, Business, Construction Management or a similar discipline
• Customer service experience (e.g., assisting customers, handling inquiries/concerns professionally, communicating clearly and empathetically), demonstrating transferable skills that support client interactions in a Claims environment
• Understanding of property insurance concepts, including coverage fundamentals and general claim handling practices
• Baseline knowledge of residential and commercial building construction and building components/materials
  Familiarity with water mitigation principles and inspection processes
• Working knowledge of Xactimate and XactContents
• REAL ID

• Employees must successfully complete all required training, including applicable proficiency, licensing exam(s) and background checks required of various state(s).
• State Farm recently implemented new pre-employment assessments. Candidates that have previously taken an assessment may be asked to participate in additional testing

Because work-life balance is a priority at State Farm, compensation is based on our standard 38:45-hour work week!

• Potential starting salary range: $63,089.65 - $82,000 annually
• Starting salary will be based on skills, background, and experience
• High end of the range limited to applicants with significant relevant experience
• Potential yearly incentive pay up to 15% of base salary
