Maintenance Technician - Las Vegas

Primary Purpose The primary purpose of this position is to maintain, repair, align/calibrate, and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and electronic equipment and instrumentation, and to assist local and regional personnel in the development of safety procedures and policies for specific systems and facilities. Responsibilities Troubleshoot, repair, maintain, and calibrate equipment such as pumps and motors, mainline and manifold control valves, turbine and positive displacement meters, proving equipment, tank gauging equipment, pressure and temperature gauges, SCADA equipment, and all associated interfaces. Maintain and repair electrical equipment including valve actuators, medium voltage switch gear, substation equipment, motor circuit protectors, motor control centers, truck loading equipment, remote station control systems, pressure transmitters, tank level measurement systems, high‑level alarm systems, electronic and PLC‑based controllers, digital display equipment, lighting circuits, safety systems and devices, teletype, SCADA transmission equipment, and automated fire control systems. Maintain records required by the Department of Transportation for designated equipment and devices. Maintain maintenance and repair records for area equipment and accurate CMV logs. Assist in training other technicians in all aspects of maintenance. Consistently maintain a high regard for personal safety, the safety of company assets and employees, and the general public. Other Duties Support all regional projects and work with other station personnel as needed. Assist with corporate engineered projects, including pre‑operational testing, startup, and commissioning. Co‑operate with vendors and their technicians on new, repaired, or upgraded equipment. Inspect and document contract work on company assets and support company and contract inspectors on area and regional projects. Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on various terminal and mainline equipment. Acquire familiarity with the Computer Based Maintenance Management System. Maintain a lubrication schedule for various terminal and mainline equipment. Act as a floating technician to assist various locations as needed. Perform other related duties as assigned. Minimum Requirements High‑school diploma, technical school degree, or equivalent preferred. Ability to read and understand electrical schematics, ladder diagrams, mechanical drawings, aerial strip maps, and maintain as‑built drawings. Good communication skills, self‑motivation, and an assertive style. Ability to be trained through internal on‑the‑job training and external technical programs. Experience with installation, maintenance, and repair of refined petroleum products pipeline systems and equipment for station and terminal operations (experienced technicians). Knowledge of occupational hazards and required safety precautions, DOT requirements related to calibration, maintenance records, safety inspections, and reports. Experience & Specific Knowledge Satisfactory driving record and current, valid State driver's license required. Ability to pass the Commercial Motor Vehicle physical is a requirement. Possession of or ability to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card, if applicable, is a condition of employment. Compliance with any license or certification requirements or training as stipulated by local, state or federal agencies or the Company. Competencies & Skills Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to read and comprehend written documents, instructions, and directions, and accurately convey information to co‑workers. Accountable and able to follow direction from managers; maintain required work schedules and attend regular and predictable job duties. Ability to pass Operator Qualification (OQ) requirements. Basic computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, necessary for interfacing with company communication systems. Self‑motivated and capable of working with minimal supervision. Well‑balanced interpersonal skills; flexible and able to function effectively in a team environment while maintaining a professional and respectful demeanor with co‑workers, clients, consultants, and representatives of local, state, and federal agencies. Mechanical aptitude necessary to meet varied maintenance and operational requirements. Physical Demands Physically capable of completing all training requirements as stipulated by local, state or federal agencies or Company policy. Work performed outdoors in varying and sometimes extreme weather conditions. Perform physical labor including walking, bending, stooping, climbing tanks, digging, lifting, and general manual labor. Field activities may include walking to and through work or construction sites, climbing in and out of trenches, working around heavy equipment, negotiating rough terrain, and operating in confined spaces. Climb tanks averaging about 60 steps safely, using handrails while carrying equipment or a tool bag. Visual acuity required for computer screens, gauges, and measuring devices; ability to hear various alarms. Extended periods of sitting may be required for administrative activities. Working Conditions Job entails call‑outs on a 24‑hour emergency basis and requires availability for long hours, weekends, nights, and holidays. Must carry a cell phone and/or pager and respond to calls/pages in a timely manner 24/7. Occasional overnight travel required. Overtime required and extended work hours during emergencies. May work alone (unsupervised) and be exposed to refined oil products, chemicals, vapors, flammables, and explosives. Exposure to smells and vapors associated with refined petroleum products; climatic conditions may include severe winter or extreme summer heat. Supervisory Responsibility None. Preferred Qualifications Knowledge and experience working with construction contractors. Experience in pipeline inspection. Experience with petroleum storage and dispensing operations. Pipeline hydraulics experience desired. Basic knowledge of cathodic protection. Knowledge of piping, valves, and pressures. Knowledge of pipeline operations. Experience with storage tank operations, including inspections, alarms, and sampling. Compensation Pay range is $44.00 to $57.00 per hour. This position includes a discretionary annual incentive plan. Job level and pay are commensurate with experience and skill set.
