As a Certified Dental Assistant (CDA), you will ensure that all patients receive healthcare that is first-rate, compassionate, and focused on delivering a high level of patient satisfaction. You will assist in the direct provision of dental services to CAMcare patients, including sterilization, preparation, and inventory control of dental instruments and supplies. What You Will Do

• Assist patients in resolving minor concerns, answering questions, and providing instructions as authorized by the Dentist or Dental Hygienist.
• Provide chairside assistance to dentists during a variety of general and specialized dental procedures, anticipating provider needs and ensuring efficient patient care.
• Prepare treatment rooms and dental operatories according to established clinical protocols and provider requirements.
• Expose, process, and document dental radiographs in compliance with New Jersey regulations, departmental protocols, and radiation safety standards.
• Perform expanded functions and delegated clinical duties permitted under applicable state regulations, certification requirements, and organizational policies.
• Obtain and record patient medical histories, vital signs, and treatment information as appropriate.
• Educate patients on oral hygiene, preventive care practices, post-operative instructions, and treatment plans as directed by the provider.
• Maintain strict infection prevention and control standards by cleaning, disinfecting, sterilizing, and storing instruments and equipment according to OSHA, CDC, and CAMcare guidelines.
• Operate, monitor, and maintain sterilization equipment, ensuring proper documentation of biological monitoring, spore testing, and sterilization logs.
• Assist with dental procedures including restorative, endodontic, oral surgery, prosthodontic, pediatric, and preventive services within the scope of certification and state regulations.
• Fabricate and prepare dental materials, impressions, models, temporary restorations, and other clinical materials as delegated and permitted.
• Monitor patient flow and coordinate appointments to support efficient clinic operations and maximize provider productivity.
• Maintain adequate supplies and inventory levels, identify shortages, and assist with ordering and stocking dental materials and equipment.
• Ensure all patient records, treatment documentation, radiographs, and clinical information are accurately completed and entered into EPIC and other required systems.
• Maintain dental equipment and operatories in a clean, safe, and functional condition; report equipment malfunctions and coordinate repairs as needed.
• Support quality improvement initiatives, clinical collaboratives, accreditation standards, and patient satisfaction efforts.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA, organizational policies, and professional standards.
• Serve as a resource and mentor to Dental Assistants and new team members, supporting training and adherence to clinical protocols.
• Participate in continuing education and maintain all required certifications and licensure.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Additional CDA-Specific Responsibilities

• Maintain active Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) certification and stay current with applicable regulations and continuing education requirements.
• Demonstrate advanced knowledge of dental procedures, materials, infection control, and patient management techniques.
• Utilize professional judgment to support clinical efficiency, patient safety, and high-quality outcomes while working within the scope of certification and state law.

What You Will Bring

• A passion for helping patients.
• Graduate from an accredited Dental Assisting program.
• Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) credential through the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB) preferred or required.
• 1-2 years of experience in a dental practice setting.
• Proficient in EPIC and/or electronic health record (EHR) systems.
• Active New Jersey Radiological Technology License required.
• Active CPR (BLS) Certification required.
• Strong knowledge of infection control, sterilization procedures, chairside assisting, and dental radiography.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and patient care skills.
