EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Our client, a well established joint apprenticeship training organization serving the electrical line construction trade across the Pacific Northwest, is seeking an experienced Executive Director to lead the organization from its Southwest Washington headquarters. The organization partners with organized labor and industry trade associations to deliver journey level training in outside line construction, vegetation management near power lines, and substation technician work. The ideal candidate brings a proven record of executive leadership in utility operations, construction training, or workforce development, with the budget management, staff supervision, and board level communication skills to guide a multi local training organization through continued growth, offering long-term professional stability within a supportive firm environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

▸ Provide strategic leadership and administrative oversight for all apprenticeship and training operations, supervising the Training Director, Area Directors, Education Director, and administrative staff

▸ Ensure Department of Labor, ETA, and AJATC compliance, maintaining apprenticeship standards, program audits, and record retention with accuracy and efficiency

▸ Develop and manage the annual operating budget, monitoring revenue, expenditures, insurance programs, and cost saving opportunities while maintaining program quality

▸ Represent the organization before the Board of Trustees, contractors, government agencies, and industry organizations while overseeing apprentice selection, advancement, and performance metrics

QUALIFICATIONS

▸ 10+ years of progressive executive leadership experience in utility operations, construction training, or apprenticeship program administration

▸ Proven track record managing multi departmental teams, annual operating budgets, and regulatory compliance within a training, utility, or construction environment

▸ Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment

▸ Working knowledge of Department of Labor apprenticeship standards, OSHA safety training programs, and relations with organized labor and industry trade associations
