Job Title: Registered Nurse - Emergency Room Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 12 Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience, with at least 6 months trauma level 1 experience License: Required RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS Must-Have: Competence in Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes; must maintain sterile field Description: This position is for a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Room. The nurse will be responsible for caring for patients in a high-acuity environment. The unit has a total of 36 acute beds and 54 subacute beds, with 6 trauma bays. The patient-to-nurse ratio is 1:4. All nurses must be competent in maintaining a sterile field while performing procedures. The nurse will be required to pass specific skills assessments during orientation. Common diagnoses include trauma, burns, and pediatric cases. The facility handles approximately 88,000 patients annually, averaging 250-300 patients daily. Psychiatric holds are also common, with an estimated 30-40 per month. Weekend shifts are required, totaling four per month. The electronic medical record system used is Cerner. The nurse will work closely with charge nurses and a team of support staff. All necessary equipment and supplies will be available to provide optimal patient care. The shift may involve floating between different units as needed. A commitment to patient care and teamwork is essential for success in this role.
