Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)

Role Overview: The Respiratory Therapist III provides advanced respiratory care, medication administration, and patient assessment, primarily in critical care settings. They independently manage ventilators, perform airway procedures, analyze arterial blood gases, and educate patients, families, and staff. The role emphasizes delivering high-quality, safe care while promoting evidence-based practices and participating in Performance Improvement projects. Key Responsibilities Deliver compassionate patient care through assessment, therapy planning, and collaboration with healthcare teams. Administer aerosolized medications, manage ventilators, and perform airway procedures such as intubation, extubation, and tracheostomy care. Conduct arterial blood gas sampling and analysis, ensuring safety and accuracy. Educate patients and support staff, serve as a preceptor for new employees and students. Promote a safe environment by adhering to policies, ensuring accurate documentation, and engaging in quality improvement initiatives. Qualifications & Skills Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Therapy (preferred). Current NBRC credential as RRT or equivalent, with required certifications including BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP. Minimum of two years of clinical experience in critical care areas such as ICU, CVICU, NICU, or Emergency Departments. Strong communication, critical thinking, and computer skills; ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
