Pay: $36.50 per hour, increasing to $41.00 per hour once in the union
Shift: Tuesday – Saturday, 2:30 PM – 10:30 PM

POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking an experienced HVAC Mechanic to support facility maintenance operations at a large industrial automotive manufacturing facility in Roanoke, Indiana.

The HVAC Mechanic will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and servicing commercial and industrial HVAC systems throughout the facility. The ideal candidate will have strong industrial HVAC experience, excellent troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

EPA certification is required.

COMPENSATION

• Starting wage: $36.50 per hour
• Wage increases to $41.00 per hour once the employee enters the union

SCHEDULE

Tuesday – Saturday
2:30 PM – 10:30 PM

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on commercial and industrial HVAC systems.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair HVAC equipment and building climate-control systems.
• Maintain and repair air conditioning, heating, ventilation, and refrigeration equipment.
• Monitor HVAC systems and respond to maintenance requests and equipment issues.
• Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure reliable system operation.
• Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical components associated with HVAC equipment.
• Work with motors, compressors, pumps, fans, belts, controls, thermostats, dampers, and related equipment.
• Diagnose refrigerant system issues and perform necessary repairs.
• Safely recover, evacuate, and charge refrigerant systems as required.
• Read and interpret HVAC schematics, equipment manuals, and technical documentation.
• Complete maintenance work orders and document work performed using a CMMS/work order system.
• Respond to HVAC-related emergencies and minimize facility downtime.
• Work closely with other skilled trades and maintenance personnel.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Follow all OSHA, EPA, company, and facility safety requirements.
• Perform lockout/tagout procedures when required.
• Communicate equipment issues, repair status, and potential concerns to supervisors.

QUALIFICATIONS

• EPA certification required.
• Previous commercial or industrial HVAC maintenance experience required.
• Experience in an automotive manufacturing or heavy industrial environment strongly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, heating, ventilation, and refrigeration systems.
• Experience troubleshooting electrical and mechanical HVAC components.
• Knowledge of refrigerant systems and safe refrigerant handling procedures.
• Ability to read HVAC schematics, wiring diagrams, and equipment documentation.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to safely use HVAC tools, diagnostic equipment, and electrical testing equipment.
• Knowledge of OSHA and safe work practices.
• Ability to work the required Tuesday–Saturday afternoon/evening schedule.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; HVAC technical training or trade school strongly preferred.
