Manufacturing Shop Supervisor

What You'll Do Department Oversight: Manage day-to-day operations of the department, ensuring efficient workflow, adherence to safety protocols, and compliance with time-keeping and performance management procedures. Employee Management: Oversee employee performance, provide coaching and feedback, and conduct performance evaluations to support team development and productivity. Training & Development: Assist with onboarding and training of new employees, as well as provide ongoing education and skill development for the team. Order Management: Expedite and prioritize shop orders through the department to meet production schedules and customer requirements. Cross-Department Coordination: Collaborate with management and other departments to ensure smooth manufacturing, fabrication, and assembly processes. Workplace Safety & Maintenance: Ensure the team maintains machines and work areas in a clean, safe, and organized manner, addressing safety concerns promptly. Process Improvement: Identify and implement opportunities for operational efficiencies and continuous improvement in manufacturing processes. Problem-Solving: Address and resolve production or personnel issues promptly to avoid disruptions to operations. Compliance: Ensure adherence to company policies, quality standards, and industry regulations. What You'll Bring Supervisory Experience: Minimum of 5 years of supervisory or management experience in a manufacturing environment. Technical Expertise: Preferred experience in one or more of the following areas: welding, metal fabrication, or machining, with the ability to read and interpret blueprints. Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to motivate, guide, and develop team members to achieve individual and collective goals. Shop Floor Presence: Ability to maintain a consistent and active presence on the shop floor, spending approximately 2/3 of the shift overseeing operations. Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage professionally with shop employees, office staff, supervisors, managers, and executives. Adaptability: Able to adjust to changing priorities and unexpected challenges while maintaining productivity and focus. Team Collaboration: Excellent team player with the ability to work well with others and foster a collaborative and cooperative work environment. Safety Leadership: Strong commitment to workplace safety, with a demonstrated ability to promote and enforce safety standards and practices. Performance Management: Proficiency in performance management processes, including creating plans of action and conducting employee evaluations. Detail Orientation: Highly detail-oriented, ensuring quality and precision in all tasks and responsibilities. Technical Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and other relevant software. Multi-Tasking: Strong ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively throughout the shift. Math Skills: Average math skills, with the ability to read and comprehend written instructions in English and complete logs, documents, and reports accurately. Your Schedule Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM To perform this job successfully, you must be able to report daily to the branch to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
