HVAC/R Mechanic II Night shift position
$22.5 - $45 per hourAbbott Laboratories
Abbott seeks a night shift maintenance technician to support plant utility systems at its Abbott Park, Illinois facility. The role involves routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of critical infrastructure including boilers, HVAC, chillers, and water treatment systems on a rotating 12-hour schedule.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance and corrective repairs on boilers, HVAC, compressors, pumps, and cooling systems
- Troubleshoot and resolve utility equipment failures to maintain safe and compliant operations
- Respond to system alarms and equipment malfunctions; diagnose and implement corrective actions
- Fabricate, assemble, install, and maintain piping systems for steam, water, cooling, and processing applications
- Execute welding, machining, and component replacement activities on mechanical and rotating equipment
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- 3+ years utilities, industrial maintenance, or facilities operations experience
- Working knowledge of boilers, chillers, HVAC, pumps, piping, or automation controls
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, P&IDs, and equipment schematics
- Proficiency with diagnostic tools and CMMS software platforms
Compensation: $22.50–$45.00/hour
