Job Title: Quality Inspector
Job Description
The Quality Inspector ensures that manufactured components meet all specified quality standards by using precision measurement tools, interpreting technical drawings and specifications with GD&T requirements, and supporting core quality systems. This role plays a key part in maintaining product integrity in a production manufacturing environment and requires the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with others to resolve quality issues.
Responsibilities
- Use precision measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, height gauges, optical comparators, thread gauges, and profilometers to inspect and verify product dimensions and features.
- Interpret and apply technical documents, including specifications and engineering drawings with GD&T requirements, to determine inspection criteria and acceptance standards.
- Prioritize, schedule, and complete inspection tasks and assignments with minimal supervision, ensuring that deadlines and quality standards are consistently met.
- Effectively identify and resolve quality-related problems individually and lead collaborative efforts with others to address and prevent recurring issues.
- Support and apply quality systems, including processing and documenting Return Material Authorizations (RMA), Non-Conforming Material Reports (NCMR), and First Article Inspections (FAI).
- Perform quality control and inspection activities throughout the production process to ensure compliance with internal procedures and customer requirements.
- Accurately document inspection results, maintain records, and communicate findings to production and quality teams as needed.
- Work safely and efficiently within a plastic machine shop and clean room environment, following established procedures and quality standards.
Essential Skills
- Hands-on experience with quality control and quality inspection in a production manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency using inspection tools, including micrometers, calipers, height gauges, optical comparators, thread gauges, and profilometers.
- Ability to interpret and apply specifications and engineering drawings with GD&T requirements.
- Proven history of strong attendance and reliability.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Experience in production manufacturing and familiarity with shop-floor processes.
- Ability to prioritize, schedule, and complete tasks with minimal supervision.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to lead or participate in team-based quality improvement efforts.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in measurement, documentation, and reporting.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working with quality systems such as RMA, NCMR, and FAI processes.
- Prior exposure to plastic machining or similar manufacturing environments.
- Comfort working in or around clean room operations.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with production, engineering, and quality teams.
- Willingness to learn and develop skills in related technical trades over time.

Work Environment
The role is based in a plastic machine shop environment, with some work performed in a clean room setting. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Portland, OR.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $21.00 - $25.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
