Major Responsibilities and Duties

Keeps abreast of the most current legal decisions, including policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education, rules and board policies.

Applies knowledge of ethical and professional practices, roles and responsibilities as evidence in emails, handling of state folders and collaboration with colleagues.

Engages in continuous education to increase knowledge of the field and enhance job performance by attending workshops and/or conferences offered by the district or Education Service Centers.

Demonstrates knowledge of various types of assessments and evaluation procedures used to identify students with disabilities and to determine educational need.

Demonstrates organizational skills to plan assessments; gather, update and return documents in a timely manner; and coordinate assessments requests and ARD meetings in a timely manner.

Demonstrates knowledge of student's needs in various curricular areas in order to make recommendations regarding interventions, instructional needs and transition planning.

Demonstrates knowledge of and uses various computer software programs to fulfill work demands.

Collaborates with parents, teachers, administrators and other assessment personnel to develop, implement and support a student's individualized educational plan.

Provides consultations to administrators, counselor, teachers, parents and other assessment personnel in regard to the student's needs.

Provides and/or facilitates in training district personnel and/or parents.

Performs all duties in a timely manner as demonstrated by PEIMS reports.

Be available by phone, email, or video conferencing during regular business hours to confer with district personnel.

Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job responsibility unless instructed to work from home by supervisor.

Assist in maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.

Usage of personal equipment, including but not limited to personal cellular phone, personal computer computers, and personal internet service when working from home during a District closure due to government or Board order or during an emergency affecting normal District operations.

Perform other tasks and assume other responsibilities as may be assigned by supervisor. All employees are expected to comply with lawful directives.

Working Conditions

Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); ability to instruct; maintain emotional control under stress.

Regular district-wide travel; moderate lifting and carrying. Lifting requirements to transfer students to and from wheelchair or assist with positioning students.

Tools/Equipment Used: Personal computer; use of and access to phone system; video/instructional equipment; and peripherals
