Assists the Director of Nursing in planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating, and directing the day-to-day functions of nursing services, in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines that govern the facility. 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Directs and supervises assigned staff including performance evaluations, scheduling, orientation, and training. Makes decisions on employee hires, transfers, promotions, salary changes, discipline, terminations, and similar actions. Resolves employee problems within position responsibilities.   Directly manage all monthly risk management, quality improvement (CQI), and infection control meetings, documentation, and in-services for facility 

• Supervise and manage assigned staff, including performance evaluations, scheduling, orientation, training, and ongoing support; resolve employee relations issues as needed; Makes decisions on employee hires, transfers, promotions, salary changes, discipline, terminations, and similar actions. Resolves employee problems within position responsibilities
• Assist the Director of Nursing in determining the staffing needs of the nursing services department 
• Responsible for rotating all on-call schedules and to fill in as floor nurse as needed 
• Make daily rounds of the nursing service departments to ensure that all nursing service personnel are performing their work assignments in accordance with acceptable nursing standards; report any findings to Director of Nursing 
• Assist the Director of Nursing in the development of in-service training programs for the nursing staff 
• Ensure that training programs meet the continuing education requirements which allow licensed personnel to keep their licenses in an active status 
• Manage all Minimum Data Set (MDS) reports in compliance with state regulations, as needed 
• Serve as a positive role model for all staff, service providers, and the community at large 
• Performs other related duties and activities as required.  

Qualifications:

• Associate Degree in Nursing with current RN licensure
• Three years of experience working with people with developmental disabilities
• A combination of education and experience that provides equivalent proficiency in the areas of responsibility may be substituted for the above education and experience requirements
• Additional certificates/licenses as required by the state
• Strong communication skills with ability to build rapport with others
• Self-motivated, highly organized, and detail-oriented

• Job requires performance of duties that involve potential for exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues. Tasks that do involve exposure are an expectation of employment.

Physical Requirements:

• Medium Work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
