About the Role

The Company is in search of a visionary and collaborative Executive Director to lead the organization through a significant leadership transition. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing strategic leadership, organizational alignment, and operational excellence. Key priorities for the role include advancing inclusion, belonging, and ethical practice, strengthening long-term financial sustainability, increasing membership, and modernizing communications, governance, and operational systems. The Executive Director will also be tasked with elevating the public profile and advocacy impact of the profession, and must be prepared to address the changing membership demographics, evolving funding environments, and the impacts of climate change on cultural heritage. This mission-driven executive will ideally have significant senior leadership experience within a professional association, scholarly society, nonprofit organization, or a similar complex membership-based environment. The role requires a leader who can effectively manage change, build consensus among diverse stakeholders, and serve as a trusted ambassador for the profession. The Executive Director will work closely with the engaged membership, dedicated staff, and volunteer Board, committees, task forces, and interest groups to ensure the continued success and relevance of the organization in the face of modern challenges and opportunities.
