Job Title: Janitorial Worker

Job Description

The janitorial worker keeps facilities clean, safe, and orderly by performing a wide range of cleaning and custodial duties in an industrial environment. This role includes heavy cleaning tasks such as floor care, carpet shampooing, wall and glass washing, and rubbish removal while following established procedures and safety guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Keep buildings clean and orderly by performing routine and deep cleaning tasks throughout the facility.
• Clean and sanitize bathrooms, warehouse floors, and common areas using approved materials and equipment.
• Collect and dispose of trash and recyclables in accordance with approved procedures and infection control plans.
• Dust and damp mop floors following established cleaning procedures and standards.
• Move equipment and furniture to allow for proper cleaning and return items to their correct placement afterward.
• Clean assigned areas thoroughly, including sanitizing all surfaces and following the eight-step cleaning procedure.
• Wash walls, windows, furniture, baseboards, and other surfaces to maintain a clean and safe environment for all occupants.
• Strip, scrub, buff, and refinish floors, and shampoo carpets as needed to maintain appearance and safety.
• Identify and seek out areas that require cleaning and take initiative to complete tasks without constant direction.
• Complete all tasks assigned by the supervisor accurately and within the required timeframes.
• Perform all duties in accordance with applicable federal, state, and county guidelines and facility policies.
• Follow safety practices at all times, including proper use of equipment and personal protective gear.
• Contribute positively to the team by demonstrating professionalism and respect toward customers, coworkers, and others in the facility.

Essential Skills

• At least 6 months of basic janitorial experience, including cleaning in industrial or warehouse environments.
• Hands-on experience with general cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, and rubbish removal.
• Ability to perform heavy cleaning duties including floor care, carpet shampooing, and wall and glass washing.
• Experience with basic bathroom cleaning and sanitation procedures.
• Ability to follow detailed cleaning procedures, including an eight-step cleaning process.
• Understanding of and adherence to safety practices in an industrial or warehouse setting.
• Capability to move and reposition equipment and furniture safely for thorough cleaning.
• Ability to work independently, identify areas needing attention, and complete tasks with minimal supervision.
• Professional conduct and strong teamwork skills when interacting with customers, visitors, and coworkers.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Familiarity with infection control procedures related to trash collection and disposal.
• Experience using floor care equipment for stripping, scrubbing, buffing, refinishing, and carpet shampooing.
• Comfort working in a fast-paced, large-scale facility environment.
• Reliability and strong attendance habits to support consistent facility operations.

Work Environment

This role is based in a newer, clean industrial facility with approximately 32 employees on site. Work takes place in a warehouse environment that includes bathrooms, warehouse floors, and shared common areas. The position requires wearing steel-toe footwear for safety and following all site safety protocols. Shifts may include a Monday–Thursday schedule from approximately 6:00/7:00 a.m. to 4:30/5:30 p.m., as well as Thursday–Saturday schedules from approximately 6:00/7:00 p.m. to 4:30/5:30 a.m. The environment emphasizes cleanliness, safety, and teamwork, with tasks performed indoors across various areas of the facility.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Middletown, PA.

The pay range for this position is $15.50 - $16.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Middletown,PA.
