Optician – Optical Sales & Patient Care

Eyes on 45th is looking for an experienced Optician to join our team! If you have strong optical knowledge, enjoy helping patients find the right eyewear, and take pride in providing excellent patient care, we'd love to hear from you.

Pay: $22–$25 per hour, based on experience

We're looking for someone who has previous optical experience and can confidently work with patients throughout the eyewear selection and purchasing process. You'll play an important role in helping patients choose frames and lenses that meet their prescription, lifestyle, and personal preferences while ensuring a positive experience from start to finish.

What You'll Do

As an Optician , you'll work closely with patients, optometrists, and our team to provide quality eyewear and exceptional patient care.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Help patients select eyeglass frames and lenses based on their prescription, lifestyle, needs, and personal style
• Explain lens options, coatings, materials, and other eyewear features
• Take accurate optical measurements
• Ensure proper frame and lens fit
• Adjust and repair eyeglasses for comfort and proper fit
• Assist patients with eyewear purchasing decisions
• Verify vision and medical insurance benefits
• Clearly explain insurance coverage, benefits, and out-of-pocket costs
• Submit and follow up on vision insurance claims
• Process eyewear orders and maintain accurate records
• Answer phones and schedule patient appointments
• Check patients in and provide front-desk support as needed
• Maintain accurate prescription, order, insurance, and payment information
• Work closely with our optometrists and staff to create an excellent patient experience
• Help maintain an organized and professional optical environment

What We're Looking For

Previous optician or comparable optical experience is required.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Strong knowledge of frames, lenses, lens options, and optical measurements
• Experience with vision insurance verification and claims
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Confidence discussing eyewear options and helping patients make purchasing decisions
• Ability to accurately measure, adjust, and repair eyewear
• Knowledge of optical terminology and basic eye-care practices
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to work effectively in a busy optometric practice
• Professional, dependable, and patient-focused approach
• Ability to work collaboratively with optometrists and other team members
• Pride in providing personalized service and taking care of patients

Lens cutting and edging experience is a plus, but not required.

Compensation & Benefits

$22–$25 per hour, based on experience
