Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: ICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 2 years License: Active Illinois license required Certifications: ACLS, BLS Must-Have: Central line care, arterial lines, bedside bronchoscopy, cardiac arrest AHA guidelines Description: This position is for a Registered Nurse in the Intensive Care Unit. The unit has a bed capacity of 8. The nurse-to-patient ratio is generally 1:2, but can increase to 1:3 depending on patient acuity and overflow. Nurses are required to have experience managing common diagnoses, including sepsis, ARDS, ARF, and post-operative complex care. Skills in managing cardiac dysrhythmias, overdose cases, and behavioral health medical complexities are essential. The role requires proficiency in titrating medications such as Cardizem, Propofol, Amiodarone, Norepinephrine, and Presidex. There is a charge nurse and administrative supervisor available. Clientists are present 24/7, with critical care physicians available during daytime hours. Respiratory therapy is available in the ICU around the clock. Equipment used includes ventilators, BiPAP, and CPAP machines. There is no telemetry monitoring in the unit, and RNs will not read strips. Weekend work is required every other weekend, and holiday work is required every other holiday. There is no call or standby requirement for this position. Eligible candidates should be prepared to float to medical-surgical units as needed. Nurses must adhere to a dress code of solid color scrubs or designated attire. Additional unit-specific orientation will be provided.
