Job Description Marketing Coordinator July 2021 Department: Marketing Reports to : Director of Marketing Position Type : Full-time, 12 months Salary Structure : Classified Salary Schedule CS-2 FLSA Status : Non-Exempt Summary The Marketing Coordinator is responsible for supporting the efforts of the marketing department by researching market trends, creating marketing campaign content like graphics, blog posts, social media posts and assisting in executing marketing events. An individual in this position is expected to perform additional job-related responsibilities and duties within the department or college as assigned, and/or as necessary. Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills Knowledge of the principles, practices and theory of advertising, promotions, and marketing. Maintain ethical standards in marketing practices and publications. Knowledge of advertising and marketing strategies and techniques in various media formats, including television, radio, print, social media, digital, etc. Knowledge of AP style and photography techniques. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with promotions partners and advertising vendors. Ability to explain laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures to promotions partners and advertising vendors. Ability to create, prioritize, manage and execute the strategic marketing plan. Ability to lead marketing functions including creative, production and media placement. Ability to set priorities, effectively manage multiple projects, and make sound judgments regarding sensitive and highly visible matters. Ability to use Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Skill in gathering, compiling, analyzing and presenting data as it relates to marketing efforts. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, public relations, journalism, or a related field from an accredited college or university. Two years of progressively responsible related work experience in advertising or marketing. Excellent problem solving, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. The ability to communicate effectively in writing and in public presentation settings at varying levels to engage students, campus employees, and external stakeholders. Commitment to the college’s mission and vision. The ability to manage multiple concurrent projects, reason analytically and work with people possessing differing levels of technical knowledge. The ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with those of other cultures and backgrounds are required. Flexibility to independently work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; analyze data utilizing defined but different processes; and operate equipment using standardized methods Ability to work with a significant diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with data of varied types and/or purposes; and utilize job-related equipment Problem-solving is required to analyze issues and create action plans. Problem-solving with data frequently requires independent interpretation of guidelines. Ability to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include adapting to changing work priorities; communicating with diverse groups; maintaining confidentiality; meeting deadlines and schedules; and interpreting policies, procedures, regulations and/or laws. Other This position requires work to be completed beyond a standard 40-hour work week including evenings, nights, and weekends to support marketing activities. Essential Duties Write persuasive advertising and promotional copy for print, web, social, and other digital media. Write news releases and feature articles for publications. Update web content. Manage social media channels for the College of Business including developing content and plan and execute strategic efforts to increase social media impact. Manage content on digital signage. Copyedit and proof projects, fact-check and ensure accuracy of proof points, brags, and statistics in copywriting, and adhere to university branding and style across writing efforts. Develop marketing and media activities including the creation and development of print and online advertising, email marketing, website management and content development, press releases, news articles, photography, design and printing. Allocate resources to maximize collaboration, efficiency and creativity in building and maintaining consistency in the College's brand across marketing and public relations channels. Create and implement both internal and external marketing communications. Provide accurate information in a timely manner to area media outlets promoting all aspects of college activities, academic programs, events, student news, community education programs, and faculty/staff development. Interpret policies, procedures, rules and regulations for web content and maintenance. Utilize data and analytics to stay current on social media, email and web-based marketing trends. Attend on- and off-campus functions to provide written and photographic documentation for the campus. Develop working relationships with multiple media services for a variety of marketing activities. Update and prepare the ICC online and print publications. Assist with various projects across campus including commencement, official functions, meetings, and events. Other duties as assigned as related to the nature and scope of the position. Attends and participates in all required training. Reports to work at assigned work area no later than the scheduled time to begin each workday. Maintains a good attendance record. Maintains a positive professional attitude and work environment. Performs any other duties as assigned or requested by Chief Information Officer/Director of Marketing.
