About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse - ICU Profession: RN Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years required License: Required RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH Stroke Scale Must-Have: - 36 months RN experience, with at least one year in an ICU - Previous successful travel nursing assignment in a facility that used Meditech - Ability to care for 1-3 ICU patients - Comfort in managing patients on a ventilator - Proficient in reading telemetry strips - Experience with CRRT, advanced hemodynamics, and phlebotomy - Advanced skills for procedures performed on the unit Description: Traveler will be scheduled in accordance with facility policy. Expected to work every other weekend and holidays in rotation with hospital employees. Unit features a mixed ICU with 28 beds. Patient ratios are 1:2 or 1:3 for holding inpatient PCU/med surg admissions. Documentation system is Meditech. Scheduling includes three 12-hour shifts per week. Travelers are the first to float to the emergency department or PCU if needed. Bedside shift report is the method of patient handoff during transfers of care. Advanced skills are needed for procedures like post-op day 0 CABG, impellas, balloon pumps, Swan Ganz, and advanced hemodynamics. Experience with neuro procedures for aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage is preferred. Candidates should also have experience with EVDs and induced hypothermia procedures. A BSN and advanced certifications such as TNCC are preferred. The unit offers training for travelers interested in specializing in Neuro ICU or Cardiovascular ICU nursing.
