We are seeking a detail-oriented Project Engineer to support mechanical construction projects from planning through closeout. Working under the direction of a Project Manager, this position coordinates project information, materials, schedules, and documentation; communicates with field teams and project partners; and follows issues through to resolution.

What You'll Do

• Partner with the Project Manager, field leadership, and project team to support safe, organized, and timely project execution.
• Coordinate project documentation, submittals, RFIs, procurement, and subcontractor communication.
• Monitor schedules, costs, and open issues; flag risks early and help develop practical solutions.
• Maintain responsive, professional relationships with clients, general contractors, suppliers, and trade partners.

Day-to-Day Impact

• Assist with development, updating, and tracking of project schedules, milestones, deliverables, and action items.
• Maintain accurate document control for drawings, specifications, revisions, meeting minutes, correspondence, submittal logs, and project records.
• Prepare, route, track, and follow up on RFIs and submittals; coordinate responses with project stakeholders and field teams.
• Review subcontract documents for scope and administrative requirements; assist with subcontractor coordination, deliverables, and compliance tracking.
• Coordinate material and equipment procurement, including quotes, purchase orders, lead times, deliveries, and status updates.
• Support project budget and job cost tracking; gather backup documentation for potential change orders and assist with pricing and change management.
• Assist with progress billing, quantity or cost verification, and supporting billing documentation as directed by the Project Manager.
• Attend coordination meetings, document decisions, maintain issue logs, and follow assigned action items through completion.
• Support project closeout, including as-builts, operation and maintenance manuals, warranties, punch lists, and turnover records.

Required Qualifications

• At least two years of experience as a Project Engineer, Assistant Project Manager, or in a comparable commercial construction project coordination role.
• Working knowledge of mechanical and plumbing construction systems, materials, installation sequencing, and coordination with other building trades.
• Experience maintaining RFIs, submittal logs, document revisions, procurement records, and project correspondence.
• Foundational understanding of project management practices, including scheduling, cost tracking, change orders, procurement, and project closeout.
• Strong technical problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to identify discrepancies and escalate issues appropriately.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills and ability to coordinate with project managers, field personnel, clients, vendors, and subcontractors.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Outlook, and Word; ability to learn project management and document control systems.
• Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines, maintain accurate records, and work effectively in a fast-paced construction environment.
• Ability to work flexible hours as project requirements dictate and reliably travel to assigned project locations.
• Associate or bachelor’s degree in construction management, mechanical engineering, building science, or a related field; equivalent relevant experience also valued.
• Experience with Bluebeam Revu, Procore, or comparable construction management platforms.
