Schedule: Part-time, approximately 20 hours per week.

A Day in This Role

You start your shift greeting a new student cohort. After a warm welcome, you deliver a TEAP orientation that sets expectations for a drug- and alcohol-free community. A referral comes in—you complete a timely interview and assessment, schedule follow-up sessions, and document the plan. Later, you facilitate group counseling focused on real-life decision-making, then pivot to one-on-one sessions to reinforce abstinence strategies. Mid-shift, you coordinate a guest speaker from a community partner and refresh the on-center resource library with the latest evidence-based materials.

Throughout the day, you conduct urine collections for new arrivals and follow-up or suspicion tests—carefully following chain-of-custody and universal precautions. You make the rounds on center, cultivating a climate free from harassment, intimidation, and disrespect. You model the career success standards, mentor students, and intervene when behavior drifts off-track. Before you wrap, you share referral information with students preparing to exit the program and ensure all documentation aligns with HIPAA requirements.

Impact & Key Functions

• Ensure compliance with the Center’s zero-tolerance policy and promote a drug/alcohol-free student experience.
• Deliver structured individual and group counseling that supports abstinence and healthy decision-making.
• Provide TEAP education and awareness, including orientation for every new student group.
• Conduct all biochemical testing procedures (intake, follow-up, and suspicion) with documented chain of custody and universal precautions.
• Design systems that integrate alcohol and other drug prevention with Center programs and external resources; coordinate guest speakers and special events.
• Interview/assess referrals; schedule, track, and follow up on appointments and no-shows; provide documented weekly individual and group counseling.
• Maintain an up-to-date TEAP resource library; continue professional learning and partnerships with community providers.
• Uphold student and property accountability, safety practices, and a respectful, inclusive climate.
• Promote student mastery of career success standards by modeling, mentoring, monitoring, and coaching.
• Provide referral information to departing students and families on alcohol/drug-related services.
• Protect student information per HIPAA.

Qualifications Required

• Bachelor’s degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or a related field.
• State-issued chemical dependency certification where employed.
• At least 1 year of experience and/or training in the substance abuse field.
• Successfully pass background check and drug test.
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.

Preferred

• Master’s degree in a health-related discipline.
