Roadside Assistance Technician/Tow Driver

Job Description As a Roadside Assistance Technician, you will be a part of our Emergency Roadside Assistance team. You will provide peace of mind by identifying and navigating vehicle problems and delivering services to return members safely to the road. Job Type Full time Exempt / Non Exempt Hourly Key Responsibilities Operate a full‑size or mini service truck or tow truck and use relevant service equipment to assist AAA members, employees and other motorists. Utilize GPS and maps to locate member breakdown locations. Perform vehicle servicing such as providing fuel, testing and replacing batteries, jump‑starting, lock‑out service and changing or inflating flat tires. Arrange or perform towing of member vehicles that cannot be started or are unsafe to drive. Ensure 100 % member satisfaction through excellent customer service. Offer value to members through on‑the‑go tow or battery tests and sales. Provide support at special events such as parades, travel shows, car care or public relations events. Compensation and Benefits Hourly rate starting at $21.50 in Florida, with pay based on experience and may exceed the starting rate. Overtime potential at time and a half the hourly wage. Shift premiums: 5 % for hours worked between 5 pm and 11 pm and 10 % for hours worked between 11 pm and 5 am. $1,000 sign‑on bonus, paid in two installments at 90 and 180 days of employment for new hires. $250 quarterly perfect attendance bonus. AA membership and discounts, perks and rewards. Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent and a valid driver’s license. 21 years of age or older. Valid state driver’s license with minimal driving infractions. Illinois applicants must have a valid Illinois C‑Non CDL driver’s license. Ability to work evenings and weekends, with schedules that may change based on seniority and productivity. Experience using tablets or electronic devices to update calls, review policies, document safety records and complete duties. Strong customer service skills and ability to effectively communicate with customers and members. Can lift up to 75 pounds. Pass required drug screening, motor vehicle record, criminal background check and DOT health screenings (pre‑employment and ongoing). Preferred Qualifications Experience servicing vehicles: fuel, battery replacement, jump‑starts, lock‑out service and flat tire change/inflate. Prior tow truck driver or roadside service experience. Ability to safely operate wheel lift, flatbed, dolly, towing equipment and full‑size or mini service vehicle. Work Environment The role provides roadside service to AAA members and is primarily out of the office with frequent exposure to road hazards and temperature extremes.
