RN Medical Surgical-VNA

Job Title RN Medical Surgical-VNA Hours: 40hrs. Shift: Day shift, 8:00am – 4:30pm with weekend and holiday rotation. Location: Visiting Nurse Association – Fairhaven, MA. RI area includes Tiverton, Little Compton, Middletown, Newport, Bristol, Barrington, Warren, Riverside. Sign‑on bonus: $5,000 new hire sign‑on bonus (rehires >1 year also eligible). Responsibilities Under the supervision of the Clinical Manager or designee and within agency and department policies and procedures, establish the standards of practice for the Staff Nurse based on the American Nurses Association of Standards of Home Health Nursing Practice. Assess and care for patients with various health problems ranging in severity. Work in cooperation with individual patients, caregivers and ancillary staff. Advise regarding various modalities to meet patient wellness and illness needs including medication, nutrition, exercise and technical nursing treatments. Teach and support various positive self‑care activities including problem‑solving and treatment alternatives. Qualifications Graduate of a National League for Nursing accredited school is required. Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing is preferred. Minimum of one‑year hospital medical/surgical or other relevant nursing experience is required. Knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the population of patients served. Proficient computer skills, including experience with software, database, and electronic records programs is preferred. Current RN licensure required in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts; may also be required in Rhode Island, subject to geographic area assignment. Basic Life Support (BLS) & CPR certification required. Home‑care experience preferred. Must be fully vaccinated against seasonal influenza and COVID‑19, or exempt by signing a statement certifying the exemption.
