The NC Programmer focuses on day-to-day tasks required to sustain and improve the machining of critical components for existing Twin Disc products, including NC program creation, specifying tooling, and optimizing machining processes (set-up, tool path, feeds and speeds, etc.). This position works closely with Machinists on the shop floor. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job function satisfactorily. - Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or other Technical Field preferred; or 2-5 years of specifically relevant work experience acceptable.
- Knowledge of CAD/CAM, N/C programming, tool design, process design, and properties and techniques of metal cutting and heat treating.
- Knowledge and understanding of manufacturing processes required; experience with gear manufacturing and experience with low volume, high tolerance products is preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of CAD and CAM, NC programming, tool and process design is required; general familiarity with Data Acquisition Systems
- Experience with Solidworks or other 3D CAD systems
- Competency with Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, including ability to lead discussions, make presentations, and problem solve.
- Strong interpersonal relationship and listening skills, with the ability to work well with others required.
- Ability to convey sense of urgency to others in a cooperative and courteous manner at all times.
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to apply analytical and problem solving skills to a variety of situations.
- Lean manufacturing concepts, such as Manufacturing Cell creation, SMED, PQPR, and Standard Work.
- Work location is in Racine, WI.

- Experience with MasterCam, DraftSight, and Fanuc Controls
- Excellent critical thinking, analytical, and problem solving skills.
- Self-motivated and able to work under pressure.
- Flexibility to multi-task with high priority projects, utilizing good time management skills.
- Team player, experience working in cross-functional teams.
- Creates N/C programming as needed on a variety of machines based on production needs, improvement opportunities, customer demands, and other factors.
- Develops and maintains routings, process prints, manufacturing methods, tooling information, setup sheets, QC cards, and time studies for production operations. Supports Twin Disc and ISO 9000 quality standards.
- Assists with the implementation of environmental and safety programs that relate to manufacturing processes in order to maintain safe and healthy working conditions and to reduce or eliminate industrial and environmental hazards.
- Coordinates efforts with manufacturing, tool design, and process engineering, along with the Corporate Engineering department to develop the best processes for cost and quality.
- Provides cost estimates through analysis of labor, machining and/or assembly time.
- Designs and recommends the purchase of tooling and fixtures.
