RN - Labor and Delivery (L&D)

Carlsbad Medical Center is seeking a travel Labor and Delivery (L&D) RN. This position is for a 13-week assignment starting ASAP. The shift is from 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM, with floating required. The approved rate is $95 per hour. Auto offers only, no interviews. Two or more years of L&D experience is required, along with ACLS, BLS, NRP, and STABLE certifications.

The Registered Nurse will be responsible for providing care during the antepartum, intrapatum, immediate postpartum, and neonatal phases of Obstetrical care to Labor and Delivery patients. This includes utilizing the Nursing Process in accordance with the state Nurse Practice Act and Hospital policy and procedures. The RN will demonstrate critical thinking skills, scientific judgment, and leadership in the anticipation and planning for safe delivery of care; maintain clinical competencies through continuing education; delegate patient care priorities commensurate with the education and experience of the staff available; and provide direction and supervision of assigned personnel delivering patient care.

The unit includes antepartum triage, active labor, postpartum (mom and baby), and special care nursery babies. The EMR systems used are MedHost (inpatient), GE Centricity (OB), and Athena (Clinic). The number of beds in the unit is 1 Triage, 3 Labor, and 4 Post-Partum. The patient ratio is 1:1 in Triage and 1:4 in Labor and Post-Partum. Floating is required, and no call is needed.
