Actuarial Analyst I

Job Description The Actuarial Analyst I position is for entry-level actuarial students. The responsibilities primarily involve learning to perform and communicate complex actuarial analyses such as actuarial exhibits, pricing, loss reserving, financial planning, modeling, data analysis and other tasks as assigned. This position supports the core actuarial functions (pricing, reserving, modeling, etc.) that ensure profitability, growth, and financial strength of the organization. Significant management oversight, review, and guidance will be required. The position is 100% in‑office. Essential Responsibilities Learns fundamental actuarial principles and applies them in analyzing company and industry data to prepare actuarial analyses, in accordance with the "CAS code of Professional Conduct" and the Actuarial Standards of Practice. Prepares summaries of actuarial analyses for distribution to Home Office and Field management, other American National departments, consultants, reinsurers, and regulators. Learns processes and begins to perform and document actuarial analyses promptly and accurately. Learns and begins to use spreadsheets, databases, and other data sources used in actuarial analyses. Prepares for and progresses in the CAS examinations through on‑the‑job and home study. Qualifications / Experience Required ABachelor’s degree in mathematics, statistics, economics, or a related field with a strong mathematical background. No experience required. Supervisory/management experience not required. Preferred Qualifications Completion of 100 exam points is preferred. Compensation The base salary range for the Albany and Chicago locations is $70,000 - $90,000. Pay ranges for candidates in other locations may differ based on cost of labor in that location.
