Equinix Emerging Talent, Military ProgramEquinix Emerging Talent, Military Program providing service members with transition assistance to the civilian workforce. This is part of the DoD SkillBridge Program, offering transitioning service members hands-on experience in Equinix's data center operations. Interns will support routine and semi-routine tasks related to customer installations, infrastructure maintenance, and service delivery within the IBX (International Business Exchange) data centers.Are you a military service member within or nearing your 180-day window for separation from active duty? If this is you, then Equinix has a unique opportunity to help kick-start the next chapter in your professional life.Please note: This program is exclusively for Military Spouse Fellows or Active-duty U.S. military personnel transitioning out of the military to civilian workforce.Key ResponsibilitiesTicketing & TroubleshootingManage and resolve customer support requests and service ticketsAccurately track tasks using the ticketing systemTroubleshoot network and equipment issues; escalate when necessaryCollaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve technical challengesHardware InstallationsPerform "rack and stack" installations of customer equipmentFollow detailed installation plans and wiring diagramsInstall structured cabling (fiber and copper), cable trays, cages, and cabinetsIdentify and report infrastructure capacity or cabling concernsTesting & Quality ChecksConduct layer 1–3 connectivity tests (e.g., network cables, fiber optics)Perform quality checks on own and team installationsMaintain detailed documentation of all work performedCustomer InteractionProvide professional, helpful on-site customer supportCommunicate clear timelines and progress updatesEscort customers and vendors for access and safety complianceTeam & Project SupportContribute to team projects and installationsCoordinate with vendors and internal teams to ensure timely executionSupport dispatching, inventory checks, and alarm escalations as neededLearning ObjectivesDeepen technical expertise in data center infrastructure and operationsGain experience in structured cabling, network testing, and troubleshootingEnhance customer service and communication skills in a technical environmentUnderstand project coordination and cross-functional collaborationQualificationsActive-duty military member or Military Spouse approved for SkillBridge or MSCAP participationTechnical or Non-Technical MOS, NEC, or AFSCHigh school diploma or equivalent2–4 years of experience in technical support, IT, telecom, or data center operationsAbility to read wiring schematics and installation plansExperience with fiber and coaxial terminations preferredStrong attention to detail and documentation skillsComfortable working in a physical, hands-on environmentTraining & EvaluationInterns will follow a customized Education/Training PlanMonthly evaluations will be conducted by the supervisorFinal evaluation will assess learning outcomes and program effectivenessEquinix is committed to ensuring that our employment process is open to all individuals, including those with a disability.
