Emergency Department Director

Seasoned emergency department RN will step into a director-level leadership role, overseeing nursing operations and driving quality improvement in a top-tier facility near Raleigh, North Carolina. The position reports to the Chief Nursing Officer and plays a pivotal role in shaping patient care and departmental excellence. Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and oversee emergency department nursing operations
• Develop and implement nursing protocols to enhance patient care quality
• Manage staffing, scheduling, and workforce planning
• Administer and monitor departmental budgets
• Drive continuous quality improvement initiatives
• Collaborate with hospital leadership to align ED goals with institutional strategy
• Mentor and coach nursing staff to foster professional growth
• Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and accreditation requirements
• Facilitate interdisciplinary communication and teamwork
• Resolve patient safety incidents and implement corrective actions
• Coordinate shift coverage, including on-call and extended hours

Qualifications:

• Valid NC RN License
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• Minimum of 5 years of hospital emergency department experience
• At least 2 years of leadership experience in a hospital setting (e.g., DON, ADON, or equivalent)
• Strong knowledge of nursing practices, hospital regulations, and ED operations
• Proven ability to manage staffing, budgets, and department performance
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills

Preferred Skills:

• Prior experience leading process improvement initiatives
• Advanced certifications in emergency nursing or management (e.g., TNCC, ENA leadership courses)
• Experience working in a fast-paced, high-acuity emergency department
• Master's degree in nursing or healthcare management preferred
• Over 5 years of diverse hospital experience with a focus on emergency care
• Demonstrated leadership in a clinical setting for at least 2 years
