Regional Executive Director

Join a mission-driven nonprofit organization dedicated to preventing impaired driving and supporting individuals and families affected by its consequences. As Regional Executive Director, you will lead the development and implementation of programs and services across a multi-state region, ensuring that communities receive the support they need. You will oversee regional strategy, fundraising, grant management, and operational performance while building strong relationships with donors, community partners, public officials, and volunteers. Working closely with internal teams and regional advisory boards, you will expand access to essential services and strengthen community engagement. You will also lead and develop employees and volunteers, ensuring that programs are delivered effectively, responsibly, and in alignment with organizational objectives. This remote leadership opportunity combines strategic planning, nonprofit management, and meaningful community impact, with regular travel required throughout the region.

• Lead the development, management, and implementation of regional initiatives designed to deliver core programs and services and advance the organization's mission across assigned states.

• Identify, cultivate, and maintain fundraising opportunities through corporate partnerships, community relationships, individual donors, and other funding sources to ensure sustainable regional operations.

• Develop and manage regional budgets, maintain financial accountability, and ensure sufficient funding is available to support programs, services, and operational priorities.

• Recruit, develop, and sustain an effective Regional Advisory Board to support strategic planning, community engagement, and the implementation of core programs.

• Create and execute long-term strategic plans and capacity-building initiatives that strengthen regional operations and support future organizational growth.

• Coordinate with communications and marketing teams to ensure consistent, accurate messaging across staff, volunteers, public communications, media engagement, and external partnerships.

• Promote organizational programs and initiatives through proactive outreach to community organizations, public officials, media representatives, and other stakeholders.

• Identify communities and populations with limited access to victim services and develop initiatives to address service gaps and improve regional coverage.

• Collaborate with state legislators and public policy teams to develop recommendations and support initiatives aligned with the organization's mission and objectives.

• Oversee grant administration across the region, including funder relationships, reporting requirements, program development, fiscal management, and achievement of annual performance objectives.

• Recruit, train, mentor, and manage employees and volunteers, establishing clear goals, performance expectations, and accountability measures.

• Ensure programs, services, and grant-funded initiatives are implemented efficiently, professionally, and consistently across all states in the region.

• Monitor regional and affiliate operations to ensure compliance with organizational policies, procedures, grant conditions, and applicable regulations.

• Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders while promoting collaboration, transparency, and responsible resource management.

• Manage competing priorities, respond to urgent situations, and maintain operational continuity while meeting deadlines and regional objectives.

• Perform additional responsibilities as required to support the organization's mission and regional effectiveness.

Requirements:

• Five to seven years of progressively responsible management experience in the nonprofit sector.

• At least four years of staff management experience, including demonstrated ability to lead teams, establish performance expectations, and develop employee capabilities.

• Three to five years of fundraising experience, with a proven track record of securing financial support for nonprofit programs and initiatives.

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience.

• Demonstrated success in building networks, developing partnerships, recruiting support, and cultivating relationships with donors, community leaders, and other stakeholders.

• Strong understanding of nonprofit operations, fundraising strategies, financial management, grant administration, and program implementation.

• Experience developing and executing strategic plans, managing budgets, and allocating resources to support organizational priorities.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly, prepare professional reports, and deliver presentations to diverse audiences.

• Confidence in public speaking, community outreach, stakeholder engagement, and representing an organization in public and professional settings.

• Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize competing demands, manage multiple projects, maintain attention to detail, and meet deadlines in a high-volume environment.

• Demonstrated leadership, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills, including the ability to develop short- and long-term plans and inspire others to support a shared vision.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively, exercise sound judgment, remain composed under pressure, and adapt to changing priorities.

• Strong work ethic, initiative, accountability, and commitment to providing excellent service to internal and external stakeholders.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, along with the ability to use online data systems and maintain accurate records.

• Basic mathematical and recordkeeping skills, with the ability to monitor budgets, funding activities, and program performance.

• High standards of professional ethics, confidentiality, and accountability, with the ability to maintain appropriate organizational and community standards.

• A genuine commitment to the organization's mission, including compassion for individuals and families affected by impaired driving.

• Willingness to work a flexible schedule, respond to emergency situations, and travel approximately 25% of the time.

• Location requirement: Must reside in the general Portland, Oregon area, despite the remote work arrangement.
