Instructional Development Program Coordinator (IACUC)The Program Coordinator (IACUC) is responsible for providing assistance to ensure that all animal care and use activities related to research and/or teaching conform to all applicable Institutional, State, federal, and other external regulatory requirements and guidelines. Must have problem-solving, critical thinking, negotiating, and teamwork skills as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must demonstrate attention to detail and ability to meet recurring deadlines. The duties of the IACUC Program Coordinator contribute to the effort to further the research mission of UAMS. The IACUC Coordinator reports to the Director, Research Programs.Qualifications:Bachelor's degree orHigh School diploma/GED plus four (4) years of administrative or program coordination experience required.Preferred Qualifications:(ACUC) Animal Care and Use Committee modules of the (CITI) Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative Training.General understanding of biomedical animal research and regulations.Biomedical research, regulatory/compliance, education/training, or veterinary experience.Responsibilities:Participates in management of administrative functions of the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) and provides support to the IACUC Program Director, committee members, and Chair.Assists in coordinating all aspects of the Committee's functions and activities, including scheduling and logistics for meetings, inspections, and training sessions.Assists in coordination, preparation, and distribution of the agenda and meeting materials to the IACUC members prior to meetings.Attends IACUC meetings with specific responsibility for independent follow-up on action items from meetings.Maintains IACUC policies and monitors review cycle.Assists with maintenance and updates of the IACUC webpage.Provides assistance and training to faculty and research personnel in navigating Muse, the IACUC's electronic protocol management system.Reviews protocol submissions to ensure compliance with administrative requirements in advance of the IACUC meeting, including completeness of the protocol and personnel training requirements.Interacts directly with the PI/research team to resolve issues.
