Community Engagement Specialist

Position Summary Community Engagement Specialist is a grant‑funded role responsible for implementing the Alzheimer’s Association Portfolio of Community Program Offerings. The role builds grassroots community connections, engages partners, and activates volunteers in new, under‑represented, and rural communities to expand education, awareness, and support for Alzheimer’s. Responsibilities Recruit, coach, and manage volunteers to build grassroots movements that meet organizational goals in selected markets. Activate and support a portfolio of volunteers using Association methods such as peer coaching, Mission Conversations, and quality improvement strategies. Manage community partnerships, including with under‑represented groups, to enhance awareness, education, support, and brand visibility. Collaborate cross‑functionally with revenue, advocacy, leadership and other stakeholders to identify and qualify awareness opportunities. Evaluate and improve volunteer performance; manage budgets, grants, and timelines. Advocate for the Alzheimer’s Association’s full mission across all communities, emphasizing outreach to limited access areas. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience. At least three years’ experience in program delivery or volunteer management. Experience in community health and community mobilization a plus. Qualifications Recognize and cultivate partnership potential with a diverse range of organizations. Collaborate effectively with others, hold others accountable and reach mutually agreeable outcomes. Represent the Association effectively to community partners, community leaders, and corporate partners. Proven experience in community service development and sustained program integration. General knowledge of community health, community‑based organizations and systems. Travel required, including evenings, weekends, and occasional overnight or air travel within the assigned territory. Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle and good driving record. Strong computer skills; proficient with Microsoft Office; ability to learn CRM software. Position Location Emeryville, CA. Full time. Grade 405. Salary range $71,000 – $76,000.
